To the moron who left his child and their dog in the car, with the windows rolled up while he went shopping:
What the fuck? Did you get up this morning and take a STUPID pill or something? A customer comes into CG’s place of work, looking for a security guard or somebody who at least has some idea of how to contact the shopping-center security or something. There is a smallish child (around age 6-7) sitting in the back seat of an SUV with her little doggie in the parking lot. Store security goes out with the customer to check on the child and gets her to open the door. Just then, a shopping-center security guy also happens to drive by. Store security asks child where dad has gone. She doesn’t know, so he goes back into the store and pages him, using the license plate number and description of the car. Then he pages the man using the name given him by the child in the car. No response. He could be in any of the stores in the shopping center so security gets the kid a bottle of water and takes it out to her while Shopping Center security guy waits with her. The girl has no idea how long her dad’s been gone but it’s at least 45 min since she’s been discovered that dad shows up. With his other two kids (one older, one younger than the kid in the car)!!! He was informed by the security that you just can’t leave your kids in the car when it’s hot out like it is right now. Dad says “Oh I was just gone for a MINUTE!”:smack:
I wonder why he didn’t take the little girl with him when he took the OTHER two kids. I can’t believe she actually wanted to stay in the car, even if the dog was in there.
There’s already been several stories on the news about kids dying from being left in hot cars. I know it’s common knowledge NOT to leave your kids unattended in a locked vehicle but WHY do people continue to do it? URgh. Makes me wanna lock THEM in a hot car until they are near death…see how they like it.

butrscotch–we don’t know. I would hope so. The shopping center security guard took his vehicle desc and license plate number and made a report to his boss (so I was told). I would hope somebody was pressing charges. But it’s not the first time it’s happened and it won’t be the last.
There’s recently been on the news the story of a 2 yo left in daycare van in Lancaster. Apparently he wasn’t missed by the idiots responsible for making sure all of the kids got back into the daycare center after the trip.
I wish people would THINK before leaving their kids in the car on hot days.:smack: Hot cars aren’t safe places to leave your kids…never were, never will be.

[Hi, Jack!]FYI, Stupid pills (both tablets and capsules) were removed from the market in 1979 due to reports of widespread overdose. Shortly thereafter, Stupid has been added to all municipal and county water supplies, in the form of Sodium Stupide, under a federal funding provision. Wells fed by natural groundwater apparently deliver sufficient Stupid without supplementation.
Thanks to our government’s efforts, an entire generation has grown up free from the ravages of intelligence, and the prevalence of SMARTS (Septic Maturity And Rational Thinking Syndrome) has diminished sharply in the general population.[/hijack]
What that type of twat needs is several Texas Child Protection Services vehicles parked on his lawn.
Sometimes image-consciousness can stand in for common sense with the congenitally clueless. It’s hard to fathom, but for some people “If I leave my daughter in the car, it might cause another embarrassing scene,” is a more compelling argument than “If I leave my daughter in the car, she may die of dehydration and hyperthermia.” Hey, whatever works.
My boss just said that some asshole in a gold Lexus had left his dog in the car with the windows cracked SLIGHTLY. I immediately jumped up and said if it’s still out there, I’m calling the cops. Of course, the asshole was gone, but she said the dog was breathing heavy and it had been out there for almost 2 hours.
I swear to God, what the fuck is wrong with people? What the fuck is up with the people in my office lately? Is it Treat Animals and Children Like Shit Week?
Well, the car was gone by the time I got out there, but if I had seen it, he would have had a smashed window and I would NOT have been responsible for it - I’d have gone to court before I paid for it, and somehow, I don’t think a judge would have made me pay for trying to save a dog from cruelty.
Believe me - if I see that dog out there again, the guy will have a smashed window and the cops called on him. I don’t care if he does drive a Lexus.
(And the kid reference was regarding the thread I started yesterday about another asshole letting his kid stand in the glass doors and scream his head off because he thought his daddy was leaving him…my building seems to be chock-full-of-assholes lately).
Yeah. They’re probably dirt cheap since insurance won’t pay for them anymore.
I hope people who lock their children and pets in the cars on a hot summer day have a special place in hell.
