Mr. Robot: Season 2 (on USA Network; begins 7-13-2016)

It was possible that he was in a mental facility (instead of prison)–he spoke more than once about having chosen the regimented life he was living. But of course that could also apply to his having turned himself in, thus choosing to be incarcerated.

Now we can hope that that information–the ‘how’ he ended up there–will be filled in.

At the end of last season the therapists ex boyfriend that he had hacked and stolen the dog from was talking about going after him. I figure its from that, if it was something 5/9 related it would be all over the news.

Yeah, plenty of reasons to doubt the version of his reality we were seeing. Is Tyrell still alive though?

I’m thinking the same thing. No way 5/9 related. Something small like his therapist’s ex sounds about right.

Now that Elliot is letting Mr. Robot help him, rather than fight him, the show’s really picking up for me. I loved that every time the gang raper punched Elliot, they edited Mr. Robot in for a frame or two to take the punch. Those I watched it with didn’t even catch it until I pointed it out.

And in the previous episode, when Elliot was in a coma, experiencing his '90s sitcom dream while robbing the gas station, Mr. Robot told Darlene to not forget the Pringles! Then later on, during the heist, she’s using a stripped Pringles can to make a cantenna to pick up the the wifi across the building at E-Corp.

It makes me wonder what other hidden meanings might be in that sitcom dream? If Tyrell is dead, then why show him alive, but bound in the trunk?

Bumping for Episode 8 [eps2.6_succ3ss0r.p12].

I liked it a lot, but I really missed Elliot’s presence and his droning, monotone VO (not many can pull that sort of VO off).

Also, why did Mobley tell Trenton to meet him at the Coffee Shop, when he just stood her up and fled down into the subway? Was he just totally bugging out?

Anyway, I’m ready for “Stage 2”…

I think the implication was that he got taken out before making it there.

I’m ready for Elliot to reconnect with fsociety, what there is left of it. There doesn’t seem to be much Elliot could do right now to fix anything.

Or that someone else had knowledge of ‘where [they] met’ and was using his account to nab her. (Given that one of the last scenes in the episode is the classic “door opens, character looks–but we’re not shown who it is” device, …)

Last night’s episode: I’ll just say “plenty of action” in case some are catching up with their viewing.

The after-show was interesting; I guess they’ve done that before but it was the first one I’ve watched. There were some little featurettes on plot and design decisions that were illuminating, and it was fun to see the performers ‘being themselves.’

Lot’s of questions, no answers. Everything’s a trick, everything’s a fake-out, nothing is what it seems. All delusion.

I thnk this season blows. Really boring to me now.

I’m not as in love with this season, but I still really like it. I think it’s interesting to see what comes after the revolution, and how things haven’t exactly changed for the better. I think it’s still one of the best shows on TV.

Also, I really like Dom, and how she’s a smart detective in a realistic way, not in a Sherlockian way. It’s nicely balanced since you want to root for her but you also want to root for Elliot and the rest of his group.

I don’t know. Dom might be my favorite character now. Too bad the entire show is probably taking place in Elliot’s head.

I’d like to see Dom become interested in Joanna.

I’m so over this season. Tonight’s episode must have been the most boringly pointless of the entire series. I don’t care about Angela, wtf was that supposed to be anyway.

I’m still liking the show very much; I’m patient with the ‘how much of this is real’ aspects because I have confidence that the show’s creator does care about the quality (and isn’t going for Shock or Gimmick).

But I will admit that I’m not entirely enthralled by Angela’s adventures in this last episode. The whole Dark Army/Chinese Leadership/US Leadership/Giant Corporation nexus is a bit fuzzy. I’m hoping it will sharpen into something beyond the clichéd ‘ordinary people can’t win because the fix is in.’

I think the show requires a couple bong hits first and then it works better.

Amen. Terrible.

The first season was near perfect. The problem with season 2 is that we know we are seeing the world through Elliot’s eyes so we don’t trust anything that is shown. It’s hard to build an emotional connection with any characters or events if we know on the onset it is not necessarily real. The acting is still pretty good, the script needs work.

I half expected that little girl to say: You swore allegiance to House Elliot, Lady Angela, but in his hour of greatest need, you refused the call.

The strategy this season seems to be…Hey, lets make everything quirky, freaky and Twin Peaksish to disguise the fact that we don’t have a compelling story to tell.

Yeah, the whole hacking E Corp thing as really started to leave reality way behind.

Where does Dark Army get little girls to act like that? Of course, everything that happened between Elliot’s “lucid dreaming” bookends is suspect, on purpose I’m sure.

Speculating about the guy at the end, that was Tyrell right, doesn’t seem worth it. Speculating about anything anymore seems pointless. It’s all a dream. Or not.
