Mr. Robot: Season 2 (on USA Network; begins 7-13-2016)

That’s how I’ve done this season. Hasn’t helped. Hasn’t hurt either, to be fair.

A pretty tepid finale, I thought. Ended with another carbon copy of a Fight Club twist and didn’t really progress anywhere.

I thought most of the season was a bit boring but i liked the ending. Other than Wellicks inexplicable man crush on Elliot I think they did a good job of explaining most things.

Then maybe you can explain to me, because I just didn’t get it.

Which part?

We know Tyrell is bisexual, and everybody loves Elliot, although I wonder whether it’s Elliot or Mr. Robot Tyrell loves. No idea why Angela is talking to him.

She got recruited by White Rose in the next to last episode.

When the main character has persistent and highly detailed hallucinations, it’s very hard to stay invested in the show. So Elliot’s been shot now? Okay, didn’t he imagine himself being force-fed concrete a few episodes back? Now we have to wait for the writers to decide when to show us if Elliot was really shot or not.

That whole cryptic “test” thing got on my nerves, too. The BD Wong character supposedly hates to waste time, wants to make optimal use of every minute… so what’s the deal with the little girl and dead fish and ridiculous questions and cryptic statements? I generally like the show, but this weird-for-the-sake-of-weird crap is likely to turn me off it.

And when the little girl said “They’ll punish me if you don’t cooperate”, my reflexive response would have been to say “Well, sucks to be you, doesn’t it?”

Oh okay. I forgot that already.

I’m just glad the season is over at this point. Horrible sophomore slump.

I am not sure if I’ll continue in season 3. I will likely let all of it air first so we can binge it. Or skip it entirely if the reviews are mixed.

The finale did fall short of redeeming the season in my view, though I don’t see the season as being as bad as some here do. But I won’t dispute the opinion that it failed to reach the level of quality of Season One.

Esmail needs to get down to the writin’ (and/or, down to being a bigger presence in the writers’ room)–being the sole director this season may have been part of the season’s problem. I have no complaints about his directing skills, but it seems clear that his attention was not as fully on the writing as it should have been.

How were the ratings this season compared to the first season? It almost seemed the success from the first season went to their heads and now they can screw around with our minds and not answer any of the mysteries and questions they’re piling on.

I really dislike this as a season finale, since nothin’ is “finalized.” A cliff-hanger finale on one issue, OK, I’m never happy with those but I can put up with them. But when every single issue is left cliff-hanging, I shrug my shoulders and take it off my DVR for future seasons.
