This entire post is probably just a waste of time, energy, and bandwidth, but I can only hope that someday, someone will listen and realize how cruel they can be.

Oh my! Me, the unwitting (co-)subject of a thread in the Pit, a locus which I do not usually frequent because of the virulence of the opinions expressed therein - I being of a generally pacifist nature!!
Kelli, you went to the barricades for me, so to speak: while the gesture is genuinely appreciated, there really wasn’t any need for it - at least as far as I’m concerned. I had already dismissed the incident which, oddly enough, followed closely my post on the “Carpe Hoc” thread started by Mr. Rogers. (BTW, I stand corrected on the meaning of occupare - its does indeed mean to take possession, grasp, seize, enjoy - but, as Wally stated in the thread, it shouldn’t be used in this specific context, and certainly not in that tense.) What prompted my post, in part, was this reference by Mr. Rogers about helping to fight ignorance. But my aim, to borrow Mr. Rogers’ own words, was first and foremost “to help the guy out”. 
As far as my thread on “That hissing sound” is concerned, I didn’t know it had made “the classic threads”. Some posters, of course, concentrated on the hissing part and unleashed their wit and humour, and I genuinely laughed with them. As for it being a stupid question, I may be partial here but I wouldn’t say that it was. I learned something (if only that bombs very rarely hiss :D), and probably so did a few others.

My son is well above avrage, thank you very much. He can think what he wishes, and his point of view is looked at, as long as he expresses it with respect. There is nothing wrong with a child expressing themself. Unless they do so in an offensive manner.

And just fyi, again, my son has never been in trouble of any kind. He is a well adjusted, intelligent young man.

I’m kinda new here, so I was wondering if this is normal - the board suddenly seems to be infested with arrogant little teenagers with nasty knowitall attitudes. Does this happen often? Does it go away on its own? Or is there some sort of spray that will drive them away?
Fortunately, there are several teenagers posting here who are friendly, intelligent, respectful of others, etc. Otherwise I’m afraid I might have developed a very poor opinion of teenagers in general. The few good ones that DO post here give me hope for the future.
