A personal favorite for me is ROCKETSHIP X-M. Actually, the movie isn’t that bad – it’s not out of focus, and you don’t see the boom in the shots. What’s funny is the stalwart '50s attitudes of the characters (the “White Male Reality,” as Joel says at one point).
Also, I’m fond of it because I first saw it on a promo tape given to me by someone who worked for a trade publication devoted to cable TV. This was before the Comedy Channel was available in Los Angeles, so nobody in my city could watch the show. So I could supply all my friends with tapes of this weird wonderful show that was otherwise inaccessible.
I still vividly remember the first time I ever caught the show, on the Comedy Channel. I flipped the channel and caught the show starting up right after a commercial break. It was some horrible 80’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie (I think it was “Robot Holocaust”). The main characters were walking through the woods and came upon a young woman bandit, wearing a Pat Benatar-style costume, but in leather, her hair all teased out as was everybody’s in 80’s TV and movies. All the characters stared at her for a moment, until Crow asked, “So… are you Wendy or Lisa?”
I’d like to close with the Jet Jaguar Fight Song, if I may:
He jock it made of steel
eats sushi from a pail.
Jet Jaguar?
Jet Jaguar!
He mother never really love him.
He crimefighting covers up a basic insecurity.
He dickie covers up an adam’s apple the size of a Toyota.
He basically good-hearted but he’d like to smash that kid’s head against a rock.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Who’s there?
He head looks like Jack Nicholson.
Don’t smile like that, it’ll stay that way.
Yamoooooauuuggghhh!
Don’t touch my bags, if you please, Mr. Customs Man.
Thank you, Best Brains, for making us laugh at love. Again.
Of course, I’m obligated to post in any thread that invokes the Jet Jaguar fight song. My single all-time favourite episode is It Conquered the World. It was everything all rolled into one. One of the funniest movies and a great short (Snow Thrills). I even loved the first host segment (A spoof of the short, with cat snapping, frozen pole frenching, and other winter events), and I didn’t really care for the HS most of the time.
He learned too late that man was a feeling creature…
I have about 90 episodes between tape and DVD. I was crushed to find out it would no longer be in reruns. I’ve still never gotten to see Prince of Space all the way through.
I wonder if the Misties on here would like to start a tape trade ala the White Elephant? We could all get lists, connect with those we wish to trade with, and then complete our collections of NON-Rhino releases. I have some KTMA episodes…
Well, if we do any tape exchanging, I’ve got Prince of Space and a ton of the other ones they’ve been rerunning on Sci Fi for the past year…although I was lazy and didn’t edit the commercials out on most of them. Puma Man and several others are pretty good. I think I’ll save up some cash and get the Rhino tapes my local place has…Although my roommate has threatened eviction if he has to suffer through Manos: The Hands of Fate in any form ever again.
that is kind of a meeting ground for people trading episodes (the non-Rhino ones, natch) via the internet. You can’t actually download the files from that site, it just gives info on which ones are being made and info on where to go to actually get the goods.
“Cats just can’t resist the rich taste of human hand.”
Trust me, Hastur, Prince of Space is EXTREMELY painful. I cannot watch it.

Oh Baby Rowsdower saves us, and saves all the world!!!
Oh, and anyone who’s interested, I have a TON of MST3K wav files!!! Including almost all themes-except for Season 10. I even have ones from the Summer Blockbuster Special where M&TB riff parts of Titanic! BTW, does ANYONE have this on tape?
One of my favorite piss-myself-laughing episodes was the movie “Sidehackers” where the three were doing a play-by-play sports commentary on all of the action
