Ok, my left pointy finger suffered being lacerated with a skill saw blade 2 years ago, and after 19 stiches you’d think I had learned…three weeks ago I cut it with a kitchen knife, two weeks ago I cut the top of it off with an olfa knife while woodcarving, I burned the side of it on my woodstove last week, and today I hacked a chunk out of it with a hatchet. Still seems to work OK though.
I havent injured any other part of myself in this time period…well except for running a carving gouge into my leg…
Anyone else have a chronic spot that suffers the most?
I’ve injured the first joint (the one closest to your palm that makes your thumb opposible) on my right thumb multiple times over the past couple years, and 3 times in the past 3 months. It is taking a long time to heal this time around and if it doesn’t get any better in a couple more weeks, I’m going in to see my hand doctor.
This is really minor compared to what you’ve done to your finger, but when I do laundry, apparently I knock the knuckle of my right index finger against something. I never notice when it happens–usually not until I’m upstairs again and drip blood on something. The cuts are deep enough that they take a couple weeks to heal and leave scars. Somehow, I just can’t learn to pay attention around the washing machine.
My left shin collects what we call “Faire Favors.”
Two years ago, I walked full speed into the end of a low bench in our guildyard. There’s a permanent dent about 1/2" around from that. Last year at Faire, I tripped over an irrigation pipe, resulting in a two-inch long scar. This year, I dinged myself on the end of a picnic table bench that stuck out a foot further than the end of the table, rather than being even with the end of the table, like most are.
Me vs benches - I’m tall, they’re not. What can I say?
All of these scars are concentrated in an area that could be covered entirely with a business card.
Not nearly as bad as your story, but when I was 4 or so I burned my right elbow on a hot metal lunchbox. A few years later I tripped while running on bitumen and thoroughly skinned both knees and elbows. I had scabs with size of a… well, make the a-ok sign with your fingers. Yeah, that big. A few years later I fell off my bike and did it again. I had scabs on my scars. :smack: The good news is that everywhere except for my right elbow, the injuries were large but not very deep and the scars are not very visible anymore. My right elbow… well, it gives me character.
I also seem to have a knack for catching my little toes on furniture/walls/large objects even when wearing socks. It HURTS, but people treat you like you’re mad when you yelp because to them it looks like nothing happened :\
I’ve got the bad habit of breaking my ankles. I’ve broken them both. Twice each.
Joy. I must trip over pollen or something. Apparently, I’m far from being stealth on my feet.
