Actually, I don’t think the nuclear option was all that powerful. Yes, it (or the threat of it) won this game, but that was a very specific special case. It only works if all Chaotic Goods are confirmed Town and therefore on the designated-survivor list, which I have to imagine would be a rare circumstance.
For the record, I do think the double-lynch on Day 1 was a mistake: Even if the comotose body of zuma couldn’t do anything else, it could potentially prevent a triggering of the Evil win condition. Personally, I would have lynched Boozahol on the first turn (since an Assassin is potentially very dangerous, if Evil, but almost useless to Good), and waited on more hard info before deciding on a target on Day 2 (or Blaster Master if no hard evidence presented itself, based on his lurking).
Well, I’m suddenly available to play. I’m not sure what the state of the other game is, but there may be fewer than typical players available. Although that allows more new players to get in, right, Chronos.
But we would never know if zuma was Good or Evil. At some point Town would be at lynch or lose and debating whether or not to lynch zuma. By offing him at the start, we avoid that nastiness. We were essentially playing as though the game started with 14 instead of 15.
Please start a game Sach. I’m having withdrawal. Even if I hate the way you attack me all the time.
Have you all looked at the actions thread? Darth switched Boozy’s target to Sach turn 1, but it failed because of the zuma lynch. If that had not happened, it would have been a VERY different game I think.
The DM board Pleo linked up there. I think the scum would have won if Sach had died at the end of Turn 1, especially if it caused Boozy to get lynched for killing him.
Oh, and just for the record MHaye, if you had ever come out in favor of the nuclear option I would have signed up for it. I was not about to force a Chaotic single win on someone who wanted to win with the team. I might be Evil, but I’m not that EVIL.
From reading the spoiler boards, this is not true. Zsophia (very nobly) targeted Boozahol with an action, and therefore would have a chance of dying from his traps, and therefore would potentially not meet her win conditions.
That’s dedication to the Team, there, actually decreasing your own chances of winning for the sake of improving your teammates’ chances.
Oh, I just wanted to add that I’m probably going to take a hiatus from the Dope. You’ll still see me around on both Idle’s site and domebo, but probably not here for a little bit.
Thanks, again, Pleo. Your games have definitely been the most fun out of all the games I’ve participated in. Way to rock the Open Setup.
I enjoyed your lyrics, MHaye. They added flavor to the game without being overly distracting. I wish I had done more roleplaying. Maybe if I wasn’t a Halfling or Gnome - I had an identity crisis!
Yeah, I thought that was kind of weird too. I wondered why Pleonast didn’t pick one. Then I thought, oh I get it, Halfing or gnome, we don’t really care and aren’t really paying attention.
