Oh, my bad, I thought he was still there.
I remember being surprised when I heard about it. I have no idea what Whitmire was like to work with, but I thought he was a good Kermit.
Same here.
Original Muppet Show
Animal vs. Buddy Rich
I watched via DVR and didn’t even notice.
For some reason, my SO loves Disney Channel live-action teen angst shows; that is an annoying laugh track.
I saw a few clips of Kermit on a late-night talk show and I could not believe how far off his voice was.
Seth Macfarlane does a better Kermit!
Watched it last night with my son. I’ve shown him some episodes of the original, and he LOVES their Haunted Mansion Halloween special.
It was good. We both had fun watching. I like that it didn’t try to hard and simply kept the formula of the old “put on a variety show” with backstage shenanigans.
Only complaint is I have “Islands in the Stream” stuck in my head now.
I was surprised at how good Brennan Lee Mulligan’s Kermit was on this Make Some Noise episode:
Pretty good. I’ve seen Game Changer, but not that show.
Ok. did my D+ watch a day later… I started crying at the beginning, just waves and waves of nostalgia (even though I am in the middle of rewatching the 70s ones). It just hits me so hard, like when the “a long time ago”etc shows up when I see a Star Wars movie in theaters. After I stopped crying, I only medium enjoyed it. I think I liked the last two better. But I didn’t hate it and I hope it does well. It was missing something. Maybe it was residual cocaine.
I just finished it. The laugh track was a little jarring, and the songs seemed truncated, but my biggest complaint would be Waldorf’s performer.
Statler and Waldorf are the only two Muppets on screen when they’re on. They need to be played by a-list performers. Waldorf’s mouth did not look in sync with his voice.
Other than that, a solid B+ effort. I hope to see more

So, I had to look it up: Waldorf has been performed by Dave Goelz (one of the most senior active Muppeteers) since 1992, when he took over the Muppet from Jim Henson. So, definitely an A-list performer within Muppetdom. Might just have been a glitchy thing.
Did he perform, or just voice it? I have to side with Frank Oz, in that there is a difference.

Based on the IMDb entry for the episode, possibly just the voice.
Could have been better, but it could have been a lot, lot worse. It was great they stayed true to the original show, and they nailed the opening and closing.
My biggest complaint was that it was a bit overstuffed to get everyone in. If they get picked up for a series I bet it will be better.
The new voices worked for me except Janice, who was way off. But I have a tin ear, and am more forgiving than most.
The Statler and Waldorf lines were pretty obvious. The original show did better, but teething pains.
Did love the Bridgerton parody, though. I’d watch it. I only watched the first few episodes of the other reboots, then gave up. This was way better.
I liked it. It wasn’t really anything different from the old Muppet Show, which was fine by me. If they bring it back as a regular show, I’d watch it.
My favorite song from the show was one from my YouTube Music Playlist, “Blinding Lights”, done on the show by Rizzo.
I want more!
Wasn’t there a Muppets show reboot about 10 years ago?
Before that there was Muppets Tonight, a sort of reboot or continuation of The Muppet Show in the 90s that I quite liked.
The episode with Garth Brooks continues to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
Garth doing “If I Were a Rich Man” was a stroke of genius.
“What the…? I thought you said he was going to do a country song!”
“Yeah, but he didn’t say what country.”
