Murdaugh Murder Timeline: Alex Murdaugh. This story gets crazier by the day

I’m not sure that’s possible, KWIM? Nothing makes a man impotent faster than substance abuse.

When it happened, there was the usual chatter about affairs, and while AFAIK nobody has come forward to say they were a Murdaugh mistress (not that anyone would want to admit to it!) I’m not the only person who wondered if Maggie was the unfaithful one. Once again, a family issue, and she WAS an attractive woman.

Wtf?
(discourse)

Why WTF? I mean, I have a WTF to that post too, but the WTF part isn’t clear. I’ll share my WTF shortly…

At least 3 or 4 WTF’s in that paragraph.

I got ya. Mine is for Maggie being attractive. Uhh, no. Just no.

That was not one of my WTFs. I see nothing wrong with her appearance.

There’s nothing wrong with her appearance but I wouldn’t describe her as attractive.

Moderating:

Please, everyone, drop the hijack of whether Maggie had an affair. And especially drop the hijack of how physically attractive she is, which is veering into sexist territory.

I’ll drop the hijack, certainly, but women and men both describe who they’re attracted to as attractive, and it’s not sexist to do so. Sure it can be done in a sexist way, but that’s clearly not the case here.

Police don’t think Stephen Smith’s death was a hit and run:

Supposedly they’ve exhumed Stephen Smith’s body to do another autopsy, paid for by donated funds, I believe, and have already re-buried him. Not sure what an autopsy would be able to find after several years in the ground.

Depends on if the embalmer did a good job.

what’s the suspected motive for foul play here?

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard a motive mentioned. I did hear they suspected the older kid may have been responsible though. Maybe a hit and run?

Not 100% sure on that.

Smith was openly gay and hate crime is the most-speculated motive.

The initial incident report said Smith had been shot in the head. The police chief phoned Smith’s mother before his body was exhumed and said that she didn’t need to have the exhumation done to persuade them that it was a homicide.

Buster Murdaugh and Smith were classmates, and there are rumors - which could be completely false - that they were in a relationship.

In any case, police said new information about Smith’s death came to light during the Alex Murdaugh investigation.

The disconnect as I understand it, is that Mr smith’s injuries were inconsistent with a hit and run. That there was a cover up done by tptb.

Bump

Another murder case for Mr. Murdaugh-er???

" Convicted killer Alex Murdaugh made up a tale about his family dogs causing his housekeeper Gloria Satterfield’s February 2018 fatal fall, his lawyers wrote in response to a lawsuit centering on insurance fraud claims over her death.

Murdaugh, in a court document filed Monday, admitted “he invented the critical facts” about the dogs tripping Satterfield and causing her to take a fatal tumble down the stairs of the family’s South Carolina estate"

Oh, but don’t you see? He just made up that part of the story for the insurance fraud, not to cover up a murder, silly!

Really she just tripped and fell on her own, you see. But kindly old man Murdaugh made up the part about the dogs so he would be liable under his home insurance policy. For her kids, you know? The part about scamming the kids only came up later as he got more desperate, see? Or maybe it was the plan all along… but it definitely wasn’t a murder for pecuniary game! No sir. Not kindly old Mr. Murdaugh. He’s a pillar of his community…

Or so the story goes.

& the Feds want to play, too - 22 Federal fraud charges

Why do prosecutors do this? He’s already serving life for two murders, he has 100+ state fraud related charges pending that will, in & of themselves effectively result in a life sentence given his age. What’s the point of another conviction that he’ll never serve a day for because of the other life sentences. Is it in case the other convictions get overturned & he’s found not guilty he’ll still serve some time? To be ‘tough on crime’ helping the prosecutor’s campaign/record/legacy even though it’s a waste of taxpayer funds?

I’m not sure it’s a waste of much money. Everyone involved is on salary and gets paid the same either way. It does mean that some other case (in theory) won’t be prosecuted (by the feds).
