Didn’t they also say that it helped them get more gigs in gay bars? I thought they said something along those lines anyway.
KISS
does not mean
Knights In Satan’s Service
That was some crap made up in the late 70’s by parents groups that thought the KISS was Evil. They have even been called NAZI promotors
If anyone knew anything about that band (Member of the KISS ARMY since 1976)
Knows that the Name KISS is not Satanic, not Nazis (Gene Simmons is Jewish!)
And that all they sing about is Sex, Rock And ROll and fun.
(Steps off soap box)
All the other bands from the 70’s and 80’s especially the bands in the 80’s used images that were “Satanic” because it sells albums. And would piss off the parents… think about it, would you rather go out a purchase something your parents approve of, or as a teenager more likely to buy something your parents say not to buy.
hmmm food for thought
Sure some (few few mind you) are affiliated with satanic practices, but if you notice, they dont use those hokey symbols and images.
You would know that bands like Danzig, deicide, Saimhain etc do it only for show and specific crowd.
I have many friends who listen to that type of music, and dress in that manner. even there apartments have that decor. But they do not believe in satanism, nor do they beleive that these images are real etc.
Hell I know one guy who is a huge Danzig fan, has all the t-shirts and his apartment looks like something Steven King or the Crypt Keeper designed, yet he is the sweetest dude ever.
Its the ones who listen to the Carpenters, Britney SPears, N SYNC and ABBA you got to worry about… they are the strange ones.

I can’t help it:
would have
could have
should have
Ok now that I have that out of my system: I have also heard that Ministry, Sisters of Mercy, Danzig, Skinny Puppy, Misfits, and several others were Satanic. I say “oh puhleeeze” to all of them.
Yeah, the first time I read that article was on a different website (that I couldn’t find) that had photos. I’m not so sure the article I linked wasn’t plagarised from the original article I read but it is pretty much the same article.
I’m not exactly sure it would be considered ‘christian’ metal but Avantasia’s The Metal Opera is pretty good.
NP: Opeth - My Arms Your Hearse
And probably the worst of these albums was the Stones’ Their Satanic Magesties Request…which was a pseudo-satanic parody of Sgt Pepper but the songs just sucked…
Definitely good, and as for the religion, who cares?
One thing I haven’t seen mentioned so far is the “mission statement” in the liner notes of Morbid Angel’s first two albums (or at least the re-releases). The sentiments expressed there are very much in line with LaVey’s brand of Satanism.
As an aside, I saw an interview with Glen Benton recently where he mentioned that he lived in a gated community and worried about the freaks getting in and trying to find him. I understand what he means, but I thought it was kind of funny.
