Musical travel

I am a white man, and I have ridden the Tube through Hammersmith Palais. I didn’t see any fun, although I was not specifically looking for same.

I often find myself at the corner of 53rd and 3rd, which has apparently gentrified over the years, as it doesn’t seem like a particularly promising place to try to turn a trick.

I’ve been to Montana, though without the intention of becoming a mennil-tloss flycoon.

I’ve also been to the neighboring State of Idaho, but just the regular one that’s open to the public; I do not have my own private Idaho.

Also, I’m in love with a Jersey girl!

Don’t think I’ll be at 12th and Vine, but one never knows…

More like a helluva town.

Yeah, until the studio censors changed it for the film version.

I have never cruised the Miracle Mile but it’s still rock and roll to me. I have been pretty close.

I have been down in the west Texas town of El Paso, but I have never eaten at Rosa’s Cantina.

I have gone to San Francisco. I never put flowers in my hair, nor did i leave my heart there.

I have been to Chicago. I don’t know if it toddled or not. It did not die the night I was there, and my momma neither cried nor prayed.

My dad was a contractor who worked on flood-control projects. I drove his Chevy to many levees, and I was glad that the levees were dry.

I rode a tour bus on the highway to Hell, Cayman Islands.

I have been to the Colorado Rocky Mountains, but I did not get high (except in elevation).

I have never been to Tulsa, Austin, or Oklahoma City, but I have been to Seattle (San Francisco, too).

When I left the USAF back in ‘80 down in Los Angeles to fly home, when we landed the bluest skies I’ve ever seen were in Seattle, and the hills were green as green in Seattle.

Oh, the wanderlust that infects punk music has a bunch of songs coming to mind that name places that I’ve been to (and many I haven’t). Here’s one!

Yo, Canada! By A Wilhelm Scream. I’ve been on the 95, to “Three Rivers” (Trois-Rivières), London, Brampton and Guelph…Thetford Mines but non to Moneen and Choke. Never been to Edmonton (does Calgary count?), live in Montreal, and got very drunk in Oakville more than once. Have yet to visit Rain City (Vancouver, I presume) or Thunder Bay though!

(Of the names dropped, I’ve only seen Gord Downie perform)

It’s timely, following 9/11.

I strolled down Wardour Street when I was in London, but there was no ‘A’-Bomb in evidence.

And like some others, I’ve been to Australia.
