I like to listen to music. I like to idle away with the Stumbleupon toolbar in Firefox. The problem is the large number of sites which throw out audio, or video-with-audio (most often Flash), without triggering. I’d love a way to stop audio coming from Firefox, and from plugin applications, without muting iTunes. Any suggestions?
Since you use Firefox, you can do it with Adblock. The comments have other (and possibly better) solutions, as well.
Adblock probably works fine, but I just plug in my earphones and don’t put them in my ears. Works for me.
Thanks - looking around that page, Flashblock looks like a better option, so I’ll give that a go. Robcaro - that doesn’t help much, because I don’t want to cut out other sounds, just Firefox!
Not that this directly helps you, but Windows Vista has a new audio mixer which allows you do adjust each application’s volume levels seperately.
That’s about the first thing I’ve so far heard about Vista that (for me) counts in its favour over XP!
And there is a very neat application called IndieVolume which allows you to do exactly that without having to upgrade to Vista.
Um… can’t you just turn off the speakers?
