She says:
‘mmmm…floor pie.’
and
‘Why you little-’ and she makes throttling motions
and
‘Why does everyone run away from me?’ and makes a sound like she’s peeing in her pants
should I be concerned?
Anyone else know a 4 year old who quotes The Simpsons?
Well I’m 17 and I still quote from The Simpsons :o
I don’t think there’s anything unhealthy to it, although maybe you could limit her exposure to television, if you are concerned.
You must be very proud.
Seriously - me and my friends can sometimes have entire conversations that consist entirely of only simpsons quotes.
And we’re 7 times as old as your daughter.
Hey, at least she’s not busting out the South Park quotes.
I knew a three-year-old who called his blonde cousin “Bart.” That kid probably watches 90 minutes of Simpsons a day.
In the US with all your adverts that’d be the one episode only then?
Heh. Actually, now that the DVDs are out, he probably watches more than what I originally said. His father’s devoted to the Simpsons.
Well, when he was 6 months old, my baby took his pacifier out of his mouth and put it into mine when I was feeling pretty grumpy. Does that count?

You have the coolest 4-year old I’ve ever heard of. I can’t speak for the rest of the world, but if someone I don’t know quotes the Simpsons, I immediately have more respect for them.
Two weeks ago at my son’s 21st birthday I said that, “like every father of about my age, my fathering style has been a happy mix of lessons learned from my father and Homer Simpson. I hope Homer would be proud of me.”
Cool kid.
Simpsons quotes are what keeps my family gatherings pleasant. My husband, sisters, step-brother and I all dominate the conversation with Simpsons chatter. That way, no one else (read: stepmonster) can get a nasty word in edgewise. Works wonders. Best part is the twinkle in my grandfather’s eye. He doesn’t really understand what we’re talking about - but he knows why we’re doing it…
So, it sort of embiggens them?
Ah, embiggen, such a cromulent word.
I love that show to the extent that I actually use those words now as if they were real.
It’s amazing the amount of people at my work that know what I’m talking about.
(although being programmers I suppose it’s not that surprising)
It’s not so much the quoting – we all do that-- but the timing. Is her timing good? Does she apply the quote to the situation, or is it all just parrot-talk?
My boy (now 12) has been “Simpsoning” for years. His mimicry is impeccable, right down to Marge’s “hrrmmmmm”, but he has a huge tendency to just blah something out with no attention to context. We call him “Non Sequitor Boy”.
