We’ve been losing too many loved ones lately.
Naomi,
The night you died, I sucked down two beers in my dorm room and goofed off on my computer when I should have been studying for finals and cursed my fate, while you, little one, were bravely facing death.
I’d read what your daddy had posted a few days previously, and then revisited it a few minutes ago to learn that you were gone. I know that although your mommy and daddy are grieving right now, at the same time they realize that they were so very lucky to have been a part of your life, and the rest of your daddy’s friends here at the boards are thinking the same thing.
While we choke back our tears, remember that we are thinking of you and your family, and realize, little one, that you are braver than any of us will ever be.

When my beloved wife died six years ago at a way-too-young 47, I found some comfort in the words of Garth Brook’s “The Dance” …“I could have missed the pain, but I’d have had to miss the dance.”
Naomi, I’m sure, was a grace in your lives.
