My awfully big adventure

Well, I am taking off from work within the hour for what is to date the largest adventure of my life. On Sunday, November 17th, I am getting married.

Thinking back, I would never have expected me to be the first of my friends to get married. Quite the opposite, in fact. This has turned out to be one of the few times that being a game geek has actually paid off for me. It’s how I met Kris.

Anyway, I am also only just now getting a little bit excited. It was too much damn work, and I was just looking forward to it being over, but now I am actually enjoying the idea of the day. I guess a good thing.

I shall let you know if anything too weird happens… and photos if any of you (who do not even know me) are interested

Hope it’s a perfectly wonderful start to a perfectly wonderful life together! Best to both of you!

congratulations to the both of you, enjoy your wedding and do post up pics (well if you want to)

Congratulations, and may your lives together be fulfilling.

Wowsers… the story!

The actual ceremony went quite well. I was a little upset to find that I was not nervous at all. My mother could not make the ceremony… as my grandmother was rushed to hospital about 2 hours before I had to leave for the church. My brother also did not make it, but that’s coz he’s all messed up in the head.

The only real downer came the next morning, when we were on our way to return things like suits etc… and I was informed that my grandmother had in fact died the Monday morning (the wedding was Sunday). Popular opinion is that she held on until we were actually married, and she therefore had a grand-daughter (albeit an inlaw), and then she was happy. I think it was just bad timing on her part, to be honest. But it was not an unexpected thing, I had never really expected her to be there for the wedding, so she surprised me a little… the Funeral was the following Thursday.

That was followed with a short “honeymoon” and I can not recommend too highly NOT riding a bicycle around a zoo for 10-12km in 38 degree celsius heat. Not the smartest thing we’ve ever decided to do.

But apart from that, no real excitement, and I apologize for being so long in replying, but I was not at work, and could not access the net.

Thanks to everyone who wished me well
