I’ve been logged onto my office computer while Outlook is indexing. I decided to take a peep at my inbox, and saw an email that my boss wasn’t feeling well, and that they’d called 911 and she was taken by ambulance to a hospital. She had a stroke several years ago, before I started working there in 2007, and I worry about her having another one when it comes to mind. I think she’s 61.
The company president spoke to my boss:
I’ve just remembered that she had an ‘event’ a couple of years ago on one of my telecommuting days.
Hope she recovers well, and does all of her secondary prevention.
I hope all is well with her, amd that what she had was minor and easily explained.
What is the line of succession?
Our clients have been told to contact me if they have any questions. Our department has dwindled quite a bit, so it’s my boss and me.
I received an update that was sent last night at 2240. Apparently my boss returned to the office last night and picked up her car. If she’s well enough to drive, then she’s well enough for me to scold her for worrying me!
Glad to hear she’s okay.
Do you know that she personally came for her car? I’ve been on more than one late night car retrieval mission for people who were otherwise indisposed, so it’s possible that a couple of friends or family members came for it so it could be kept safe at home.
But good that it sounds like she’s OK. Hopefully the second whatever it is (guessing something like a TIA or transient ischemic attack?) will be her Come To Jesus moment to work on mending the root cause.
I received the email from the ‘admin’ (who actually has more power than an admin – like a manager) who received word from another employee who said that my boss picked up the car.
As I said, she had a stroke years ago, and she had surgery. That was her CTJ moment.
