I just got a call from Mike’s boss. He said that he got hurt at work and they took him to the hospital by ambulance. The boss didn’t give any details, but gave me the number for the hospital. I tried to call, but they said I can’t talk to him now. I would go down there if I knew where the hospital was, but I’ve never even been to the job before. He works in Jersey, so it would be a long haul with the kids. I’ll have to wait to hear more.
So, I guess, I’m just asking for good thoughts right now.
Jesus honey, my thoughts are with you and your kids.
But it may just be that they take everyone to the hospital, for everything from a broken bone to a small cut, because of insurance issues. That may also be why the boss couldn’t say anything.
I have a friend whose husband had to be rushed to the hospital from work in an ambulance–and all it was, was that he walked into a forklift’s fork (it was in the UP position, see) and he cut his face open right above his nose (and no, we don’t understand how he managed it, either), and anyway, he was bleedin’ like a stuck pig from his forehead, so the manager hit the OSHA panic button and called 911.
And of course the hospital wouldn’t let her talk to him, either, for a while, as he was busy having his face sewed up.
He looks fine now, BTW. (I just realized this may not be such a good story after all…)
Anyway, sometimes Management decides that it has to look good to the Union, so they call an ambulance.
I went to mapquest and managed to find my way to the hospital. We just got home a little while ago.
Mike drives a rolloff truck and while he was doing something with the lid or the door (I’m not sure which) It slammed shut on his hand and severed the first digit on his finger. It was hanging on a small piece of skin and the bone is totally crushed. They stitched the finger back on and he’s got a follow up visit to the doctor on Tuesday morning. He’s got to be very careful with the finger, because the doctor said that if it bumps into anything, they might have to remove it all together.
He’ll be out of work for the next few weeks. He’s very worried about it.
Sending thoughts and prayers your way. I’m glad it’s not any worse though that is bad enough. Please keep us updated and we will keep your family in our thoughts .
Tell hubby not to worry too much , since this happened at work workman’s comp should help cover everything.
