My brother is getting married!

I was checking my voice mail messages earlier, when I got one from my dad.

My brother popped the question to his girlfriend, and she said yes. My mother drove to Dallas to give him my grandmother’s engagement ring, then drove back to San Antonio.

I still can’t quite get my mind wrapped around this. My brother is, well, my little brother. He will forever go out of his way to pester his older sister, because that’s what little brothers do. I can’t fathom my brother as a family man, although he has shown signs of it in terms of being an enthusiastic uncle to Aaron.

Amy, his fiancee, is a very nice girl. She works with a children’s theater group in Dallas. I met her at Thanksgiving, and she stayed after my aunt’s drunken tirades, earning major brownie points with the 'rents. She also loves Aaron, earning major brownie points with Aaron’s mommy.

They’re planning to get married this summer, I think. Mom has offered the use of their front yard, which is laid out like a park, for the ceremony.

Welcome to the family, Amy!

Congrats to your brother MsRobyn. If my brother decided to get married I think I would suddenly feel very old. He will always be my baby brother even though he’s only 3 years younger than me.

Cool! Tell him congrats from all your weird online friends!!

Will do.

He’s on cloud nine right now. I talked to him just a few minutes ago, and as of yet they haven’t set a date. Aaron’s services as ringbearer have been offered and accepted.

As long as he’s not expected to wear hairy feet and travel to Mordor it should be safe :stuck_out_tongue:

(sorry LOTR geek couldn’t resist the reference)

Congratulations! (As if you worked so hard at this  !)

I can’t believe that Aaron is big enough to serve as a ringbearer! Where did the time go? Of course, AJ will be 1 next month and I still can’t believe it either…
