My Cup Runneth Over- A Championship MMP

Lunch break! I’ve done something over 2 hours of manual labor so far, and I’ll probably do a little more before totally pooping out. I found a spot for the last clump of tiger lilies, so yay for that! I also removed another raised bed board. The rest of the time has been digging up lilies and iris and pulling up the invasive nasties. I think that’s why I didn’t get many blooms on the iris and lilies - they were being choked out! I’ve gotten about a third of the bed emptied. Probably won’t finish it today, but I’ll keep at it till my back screams louder.

Which reminds me - ibuprofen for lunch dessert.

My Chewy delivery is coming today - will I have the strength to bring in a 40# sack o’dog food? We do have a 2-wheel dolly, so that’s an option.

Then there’s the whole business of supper. We had scrambled eggs last night, but I really should plan something that includes veggies. In fact, I just remembered I have some veggie-beef soup frozen - and it’s about to be thawed. Supper solved.

OK, I’ve killed half an hour (not just on this post - I type faster than that.) Time to go pull more weeds. Dammit.

I was bouncing between the 100 and 300 Slide today. Apparently the new Preload manager thinks things will go better if the clerks do clerk work instead of doing the Sort table until everything is FUBAR. The printer on the 100 workstation ran out of labels. I couldn’t find any. J didn’t know where they were. The Senior Clerk didn’t know where they were. Management didn’t know where they were(Don’t question Authority, they don’t know either). Tomorrow’s looking like a good day to take a Mental Health Day.
I went home when things were done.
< phone rings 30 min later >
Me: “Hello?”
Sup: “Are you in the building?”
Me: “No I left.”
Sup: “Are you nearby, I need you.”
Me: “No, I got home 30min ago. Nobody said anything when I left.”
Sup: “Oh.”
But I made some chorizo and egg tacos for breakfast.

No Spencer?

I get tropical rain on Friday.

That’s why I watch the ones with pucks or eggs.

Yep.

I’ve seen some of drivers do that in the building.

Well I do now. Thanks, lady!

You’re fookin’ welcome!

Otherwise sensible? Doggio? Are we talking about the same person here?

I am mostly indifferent to sports, but I’ve worked at enough matches to understand how it could be addictive, and the atmosphere can be overwhelming- it’s about the only time British males are allowed to show emotion.

Judging by the number of Scotland flags which have suddenly appeared everywhere, it’s a common addiction round here.

Not a fun day at irk today. It’s an odd setup, people in my office work for two different organisations. One of them just announced a mass compulsory redundancy, for the second time in the last few years (the other also had one in that time). I think the group I work with will be quite badly affected, but I believe no-one knows for sure yet. I think they may attempt to force out the head of the group, as he’d due to retire in a few years. I hope not.

Afternoon all. Have spent the morning internettin’ and consuming calories, so shortly will head off to the gym to work some of those calories off. I’ve also booked myself a short July vacation, Going to Cedar Point in Northern Ohio (with a night in Indianapolis) for 3 days, then a day in my old home area around Akron, and then down to Mammoth Cave, KY for a tour. Haven’t been on a roller coaster for years, mostly due to my weight, but now that I’ve lost over 90 pounds in the past 3-4 years, I ought to fit just fine. Looking forward to it, will also be a good workout for the car after months of local driving.

Talkative bunch this morning, lets scroll down and see what’s what.

Fingers, been a few years since I’ve ever been excited about a sporting event (years ago, sitting in the bleachers rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team was probably the last time). But I do remember and having been to some Premier League games in England, I know the passion that is involved.

Taters, never doubted that you are in the right regarding the kids (and more importantly, the lack of parental control).

Knots, glad there wasn’t much loss on the frozen food front.

:exclamation_question_mark: I didn’t think Dallas fans were allowed anywhere on the East Coast…  Good wishes on the great outdoor work.

Mollie, lovely pic. And people with their nose in their phone almost anywhere baffles me. And I would love to have a wizard’s staff if the day comes I need help walking.

rocky, just wait for the 19th, when Brazil is due to play in Philly…if you think it is a madhouse now…

Herald, way I see it, someone else is using your old cane and is happy to have it, so it all works out.

Nut, no, not a fun day at work. It’s the not knowing how/who/when the ball will drop that makes it even worse.

And guess I’ll get appropriately garbed and go sweat a little. Take care all.

I’ve purchased a small treadmill. I hope the good ratings are real rather than acquired by the seller swapping in reviews from a better product. It’s intended more for walking, which is what I do, and has a short bed and low storage profile. If it works well, I’ll look for a folding standing table. I like to walk a couple of hours while reading and I’m out of the habit since our last treadmill broke and then furnishing rearrangements have precluded fitting a regular one into the house or garage.

What else? 69° ferret height and will get warmer. Might go see how the ducklings in the drainage pond are doing.

And I’ve quit for the day at the insistence of my back. There are 3 containers of iris and lilies to plant somewhere and I’m working on the second bag of nasty invaders that will go in the trash because I don’t want to risk any of it taking hold in the woods.

FCD is home and napping. FedEx delivered the dog food. I’m comfy in my recliner. Otis is crashed in the foyer. Peace reigns.

is very proud of never having lost a cane!

Back when I was working at the food stamp office, one of my clients noticed that I was using a new looking cane and asked me if I had paid money for it. Upon hearing my Yes answer, she told me to get my money back and then go to the grocery store and tell them I’d left mine there. She said they would take me to a magic room full of lost canes, walking sticks and umbrellas and leave me there to pick the one I wanted.

Thinking back, it was closer to 40 years ago…Kindom of Caid in San Bernardino CA. While the kids I saw seemed to be having fun, they weren’t toddlers, they were old enough to know how to stay out of the way when the grown-ups were playing. Keeping a pair of toddlers safe at the some of the events would be pretty hard.

Ain’t it grand to be so needed?

So we did all of the pre-op paperwork at the hospital and then had a short visit with the surgeon. Good news is that I won’t be as limited as I thought, bad news is he’s prescribing pain meds for the first three months. He wants me to take them on schedule for three days (reasonable) and then use them anytime my pain levels go over a four. (very unreasonable IMHO and I will probably adjust that)

I also paid the surgical suite co-pay and the surgeon’s co-pay so it is definitely too late to change my mind now. The whining will only get worse as the countdown continues.

Holy TUNDERBOOMERS Batman!

My phone is doing things.

My lovely mother is in much knee pain. I am quite aware that pain makes people say/do things out of the ordinary. But damn, I threatened to put you in a crappy home when I was 14 if you didn’t treat me nicer, and you laughed at me then.

She’s being a collassal :angry_face_with_horns:

I’m thousands of miles away from you, you’re not helping your case.

My ex (who married his rebound from me, and happily had a daughter, because marriage & childbirth were OFF the table with me) who made stoopit $ at the same IT job that gave me serious mental trauma, while I’m paycheck-to-paycheck out here in Mitten State …

… is having a tough time. Job no good, marriage on the rocks. KARMA although I do have sympathy for him.

I’m going to { giggle } absolutely ignore my phone for a while.

“Aw noes, I didn’t hear the ringer (that was on silent) whoops!”

Only phone noise I care about now is “SHOE TIME FOR WORK!! Put on pants!!” and occasionally an oven timer.

I figured out why the freezer is always frosty - the gasket is split! I only saw it (it’s a drawer freezer) because I was facing FCD while he was getting ice and I looked down. I thought at first that it was dirt. Nope, it’s broke. So I ordered a replacement that should get here within a week. Always something…

The marina is having a pig roast on Sat to benefit the county animal shelter. We plus Daughter’s gang will attend. Then on Sunday, weather permitting, we’re going out on the river to watch the air show at NAS Pax.

Tonight, tho, is chillage.

metal mouse I like to watch roller coaster videos on YT, but would never dare to go on one. Cedar Points has several so I want you to wear a GoPro when you ride one.

Ariel is on the DL so I rode Jake in my lesson today. He is taller than Ariel but lacks her go go. We had a nice time and I pretended to be a cowgirl. Jake has a very very slow trot .

Howdy Y’all! Been a very rainy day in Jawja and looks to be a :musical_notes: rainy night in jawja :musical_notes: as well. Laundry got done and put away. Much RDOS inactivity then ensued until time to make sup. We have leftovers for tomorrow, so win-win there. I think I will have an early bedtime cause it’s rainy and that makes me want to go into hibernation.

I lurves me some roasted piggies, no lie, but the fact where that benefits other critters living .. ??

52, what a harrowing ordeal with the children and dog running amok. Mom sounds like she’s got way too much on her plate. It’s lucky you and your neighbor were on the scene. Well done to you both.

Yeah, the feeling off thing for me is very rare. Nothing I could quite put my finger on, so no biggie since it cleared up fast. Ollie’s troubles were undoubtedly the cherry pits.

I’m glad you are there for Harry and that he’s staying put.

The SCA sounds like it was a blast – I might lose my mind over it if I had participated, too.

Do you have a date set for the surgery yet? If you’ve shared it, I missed that. I’m glad you’re going through with it, sorry for the lengthy recovery period. Do try to listen to your doc’s instructions, though. They usually know what they’re talking about. Usually. I look forward to more whining.

I know you do, and I can think of few more qualified to do so! I just like ribbing you a bit. Enjoy the boxed lasagna and accompaniments!

Me, too. Whenever I get them. My friend got an unexpected-cancellation appointment with a doc she’s wanted to see yesterday, who honed right in on potential heart problems. Let’s just say she’s a little preoccupied, and I hate to bug her about the pics just now. Sooner or later, though…

Hope you enjoyed the soccer. I know you didn’t love the house-irk.

Your planned vacation sounds like a terrific Memory Lane tour! I hope you savor every moment. I had to give up roller coasters about 15 years ago when I went on one twice in a row and dislodged the crystals in my ears. I didn’t puke, but it was a close thing. May your own experience not include that unwelcome side effect!

Lily, squee on the feline overladies! They look so healthy and happy! No surprise at that. And I hope the new treadmill suits!

Because sometimes a person just need something to lose their mind over.

You’ll probably be able to find it on one of your streaming services. If not, I have another suggestion: This one is a police procedural drama set in Denmark called The Investigation. Again, subtitled. This one is fascinating, if you like this sort of thing. It involves some pretty cutting edge procedural approaches – including boats and dogs! It’s a bit of a slow starter, but if you hang with it, it gets very engaging. I found this one on HBO/Max.

I’m so glad you had a dinner that knocked your socks off! Now I’ve got ribs on the brain…

Glad you survived the power outage, knots!

FCM, you are a machine! I am sure you will be well rewarded for your efforts, if you can keep Otis out of the beds.

Gorgeous sunrise pic, mollie! Please keep them coming! I’m with you on the people who can’t live without watching their phone screens. I barely remember to take mine with me when I leave the house. And now I’m on the BooFae Scottish weather report train, too.

rocker, I don’t envy your current living situation. Poor city planning really can affect people’s daily lives and mental health. Remember to breathe.

Personally, I’m glad you made your escape. Spot would have been insufferable if you’d gotten home late. :grimacing:

Good luck with the purge, nut. Those are just the most stressful circumstances. And I hope you remain unscathed.

shoe, your mother is indeed playing with fire, treating you poorly. Here’s an article you might be interested in:

Caring for Aging Parents Who Abuse(d) You

Glad you enjoyed your ride with Jake, wet one!

Another hot (for here day today, high around 87F. I got up early and did outdoor tasks such as washing the bird crap off the mirrors on my car where the deranged bird likes to perch while he plans his assaults on my sliding glass door. I moved the car in hope of discouraging this ongoing behavior.

Ollie had a nail trim scheduled, so off we went to do that. Came home and figured we’d done enough for one day off the reservation. I took a walk with Ollie before it got too hot, then I did a bit more sorting in the spare room and some cleaning tasks that were overdue.

Breakfast was a homemade sesame seed bagel with cream cheese (not homemade, but maybe JtC will share her process?) and home-smoked salmon. Some chunked cantaloupe alongside. Dinner will be homemade pizza with pesto, chicken, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes. I hate to heat up the house with the oven, but it will be brief.

May your evenings all be chill and relaxed!

This morning Sunflower signed up for twelve weekly sessions with a trainer at the gym. She and I go almost every day. I have a normal routine I have used for years but She feels that She needs more direction.

On the good side: I have decided to spend the time She is with Her trainer swimming laps. Sunflower does not swim well at all and is very uncomfortable even trying.

I spent a great forty five minutes swimming laps and ten glorious minutes in the Jacuzzi.

Went to lunch with the group from The Home. I’d forgotten that we had been there before or I likely wouldn’t have gone back. The food was okay, but not outstanding. The chorizo sausage was actually pretty spicy. Turns out it was the same thing I ordered last time. The restaurant is a big barn of a place, which sets off culinary alarms for me, but we muddled through it. The noise level from all those people made it impossible for me to hear anything. Anyway, it was something to do for an hour or two and the weather cooperated. We’re supposed to get maybe an inch of rain tomorrow, which is good.

I can sympathize. Water has had a habit of trying to kill me over the years and I swim about as well as a bowling ball.

There was NO discrimination involved. If a skinny, short woman thought she could beat the King in the ring, she was encouraged to do so. So I thought I would be King some day and I learned how to swing my stick, wear armor and take getting hit while Hubs was over with the brewing guild.

All was going well until the fateful day that I was in the ring, fighting a man who was a good foot taller than me and it was going about as well as could be expected. I ended up rolling around on the ground and refusing to submit while dodging his “sword” strikes. My plan was to scootch myself up just a little more and grab my sword where it lay just out of reach and then leap to my feet and strike the ruffian down with a single surprise blow.

What really happened is that Hubs glanced over to see me on the ground with my foul foe trying to bash my head in with a stick and lost his mind. According to witnesses, he cleared the barrier with a single leap, landed and used his closed fist to hit my foe in the side of his helmeted head in my defense.

My poor opponent ended up with a concussion and stitches where the edges of his helmet and bent and cut him. Hubs broke a couple of fingers. I got the fun of explaining over and over to the ER staff how this actually happened and why no charges would be brought against anyone.

That was the day I hung up my sword and joined the ladies on the sidelines doing embroidery.

My surgery is scheduled for the 24th. I will be able to use my tablet, I just won’t be able to raise my hand above my elbow so much whining will happen I am sure.

Cream cheese is simple to make and I will type out the recipe tomorrow. I can’t get to it now, I have a spoiled bratly catly on my lap.

They are SO stinkin’ cute, aren’t they? I also hope the the treadmill works as needed.

Speaking of fuzzbutts, George thinks its time for a good brushing now. I need to get him to a groomer, he desperately needs a good dethatching but brushing does help.

That’s quite the article!

JtC, we’ll all be eager for your invective.

Evening all. Made it to the gym and watched Soccer game #1 while on the treadmill/bikes (they have small TV’s installed in them) and sweated off copious calories in the doing. Also mailed a return package to Amazon and cleaned the bathrooms, so I have done some stuff. Have dined while watching game #2 and had a couple of cups of applesauce and pudding for dessert, so calorie addition is complete for the day. Still nice enough outside but there are dark clouds about portending a wet weekend, so we’ll see how it goes.

Lily, what kind of treadmill if I may ask? I’ve thought about getting one since I spend a lot of gym time on it, but don’t know where I would put it.

FCM, always obey the back when it says ‘stop’. And I wouldn’t know a refrigerator gasket to save my life. Enjoy the air show, haven’t been to one in 25 years (and that was in Dubai).

Wet one, do not have or own a GoPro and don’t plan on getting one, but I’ll be riding all 18!! coasters if I can (and some of them multiple times). Look up Top Thrill Dragster, that will be my first destination. Hope Ariel gets well soon.

JtC, never had a cane (except for a bit when I broke my big toe 30 years ago), I’m hopeful I can manage without one for a little while longer. Glad your surgeon meeting went well, we’'ll listen to the whining here when you need to vent. I always did like a fine whine… And while never a member of the SCA, I do have friends who were/are members and laughed aloud reading your and Hubs story.

shoe, sorry that Mom is being “Mom” again, I was under the impression it was going a bit better recently. And wonder if ex- might be thinking about what might-have-been…

Bright Tree, never had a problem before on coasters, no matter how many twists and loops they put in, hopefully my long sabbatical hasn’t changed things. And there is such a thing as a home-made bagel? (I normally do not bagel, but before this I always got them at the store or restaurant).

Hippy, I can understand Sunflower’s reasoning, I had a personal trainer for 3 months to work with me on the weights, and while I have fallen back a bit it did help me set up things to do and showed me which ones go well together. I used to swim lots of laps but pretty much stick with the gym floor these days.

And time to see how Soccer game #3 is going (game 4 doesn’t start until 11pm Central, so I’ll watch the highlights tomorrow). Take care now.

My old hiking stick (somewhat stafflike) is now my back up cane.

My kind of horse! As a kid, my uncle kept horses that we got to ride when visiting. Since we didn’t ride on the regular, he usually put us on slow, gentle Barney or sweet pony Cheetah. My cousin Scott dared me to ride Tara, a spirited mare and Lord! While I stayed on, I was holding on for dear life and saying every prayer I knew. Give me slow and gentle any day.

What? You don’t think dogs and cats like a little barbecue? :d&r:

Got to the podiatrist and back with few issues. Gotta go back next week though.
