My daughter ROCKED in her NYSSMA scores!

The New York State School Music Association ratings are today.

Sakura is not concentrating in music, but she is serious about her singing, to the point that she takes private lessons. When figuring out her class schedule one year, she told me she must take Chorus because, “I have to have music in my day.”

She sang “The Black Swan” from Giancarlo Menotti’s The Medium. It’s a Level Six, the highest level for NYSSMA material. She was especially nervous about the sightsinging, since she doesn’t read music, and it’s hard enough to sightsing when you do read music.

She scored a 98 out of 100.

Oh, yeeeaaaah!:slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

Brava, Sakura!

**RIGHT ON DAVE DAUGHTER !!! **. My kids also did NYSSMA this year, as every other year in recent memory.

A bit of stress, some fun, nervous kids and more nervous parents in hallways, peeking into classroom windows to watch. Very cool.

I bet she’s flyin’ !!! Mazel Tov,

( pearl river? jeez, I was at the Palisades to see “Star Wars” this afternoon. We coulda broken bread !! )

I told ya, toons, you live a mere stone’s throw. (and if you don’t quit throwing stones, I’m gonna call the cops!)

I had to work, alas, so my wife took the girl up to New Windsor, which is where I assume you went, also. Ironic, since I was actually working in New Windsor at the time. But the timing was wrong.

I hope the Toonlets did well in their ratings, and you’re spot on about the nervousness and excitement. Fortunately, there is also sometimes joyous celebration.

(Palisades Center – uugghh! ::shudder::)

Congrats, Sakura!
