My daughter's wedding was JRRT-themed

The littlest Mercotan, who once posted here as Eowyn the Mercotan is now wed, to a fine fellow with enough nerdiness in him to fit in comfortably.

The altar was decorated with the Two Trees, Laurelin the gold, and Telperion the silver. Genuine trees, leafless but sprayed gold and silver. Each were lit with appropriate colors. Each table at the reception had a cutting from Telperion on the table.

One bridesman carried a sword instead of a bouquet. The ushers pledged the couple their sword, ax, and bow respectively.

The bride wore a headpiece similar to Galadriel’s. The gown was white, but with a black lacy basque overlay.

The wedding cake bore the inscription from the one ring, binding them in the dark when it was fearless, before the Dark Lord came from Outside.

At the reception, Elf wigs and ears, Dwarf wigs and beards, axes, swords, and bows and a wizard hat and staff were available for wearing/wielding and having one’s photo taken with; this proved amazingly popular, generating hundreds of photos. Mrs. Mercotan looks quite hot in long, flowing red hair. The beard however, did not suit her, IMHO.

Elder daughter elfbabe looked strikingly elvish as Matron of Honor, and shone like the light from a Silmaril.

And the bride outshone Elbereth herself! White glittering, sparkling like a jewel, the glory of the starry host!

And the people sang in all the ways of the ballroom.

I hope no would-be Morgoths or Ungoliants crashed the party …

I hope instead of just handing the rings over, the bride and groom had to chase the ring bearer around the venue and take them by force.

“After all…why shouldn’t I keep it?”

(Congrats to Eowyn and her suitor!)

I would so have come to this weeding dressed as a Nazgul!

Nazguls were mentioned in my toast to the bride and groom.

No pictures? Awww, come on!

I hope they can live their fantasy forever. It’s a big improvement over reality.

How in the heck can I be poster #9, and only the first to say “Congratulations!!” to proud Daddy Mercotan? Where have our manners gone?

Congrats on launching the littl’un. May she stay well-launched.

Pics or it didn’t happen. Congrats, Papa.

Brides always do this. I don’t know how they manage it.

That sounds like an awesome wedding and an even better reception. You must have been bursting with pride, since you obviously raised your daughter right.

Congrats all the way around.

Congratulations to the bride and groom!

That sounds like the most amazing wedding ever, and I’ve been to some great ones. Congratulations!

Congratulations to everyone! Sounds like it went off perfectly.

Balrog wings?

She looks better in her own wings.

Hopefully nobody bit any fingers off of the ringbearers. They hate that.

This is fantastic. If you have pictures, please post some!

Hey, congrats! I’m glad that all turned out well.
