I have an ulcer on my toe, and it’s gotten MUCH smaller, and the infection has cleared up nicely. Also, the circulation in that foot is better than we had thought, though I don’t know why I needed to go to the clinic for a CAT scan. I have three perfectly good cats at home, and I am constantly undergoing CAT scans, though usually they’re looking for bits of chicken.
I had to have my kidney function tested before the scan, and my kidneys are working splendidly. It’s nice to hear that one of my body parts is working well.
I’m still supposed to stay off my feet, and preferably in bed. I’m not supposed to walk very much at all, and I was told, very firmly, not to use my exercise machine, even though I use it while seated. Boy, was I told not to use it. I’m going nuts! I never thought I’d see the day when I’m pissed off about being told not to exercise, but I miss it. Ah well, the ulcer seems to be healing pretty quickly now, so I can get back to my routine. I did stop by a bookstore yesterday after going to the clinic, but I only spent a quick 15 minutes in there, it was a “grab and go” run and completely necessary for my mental health. I haven’t bought any new or new to me books for 3 months! I DID get some books for Xmas, but nothing beats picking out exactly what I feel like reading right now.
Those toe ulcers can be horrible in diabetics, especially if they get into the bone.
CAT scan must mean the presumption is the bone might be involved, but if the ulcer is improving, I bet the bone is OK. (Why did they want to use contrast?)
Well done on your part. Go ahead and take credit. They woulda blamed you if it had gotten worse.
I would think that exercising or just being up and about would help the circulation (I wear compression stockings). But then I’m not a doctor, nor do I claim to be.
They wanted to see the circulation or lack thereof in my foot. It turns out that I’ve got quite a lot of circulation in that foot, even though I’ve got a lot of edema and neuropathy in that foot. And I’m going to credit my regular and frequent use of my CardioCruiser exercise machine for the good circulation. I don’t post about it, but I DO exercise, and now I am even anxious to get back to doing so. I just feel better if I get regular exercise, even if it’s relatively short mild exercise.
I think that the phrase they used was “angio CT scan”, if that makes any sense. I was scanned without and then with some contrast.
I can lift light weights, as long as I don’t get up and get them. Thus, I’ll ask my husband to bring in my dumbbells from the other room. I usually get the dumbbells with a big side order of rolleyes.
