I love seafood in all its splendid forms.
That’s why I live in the middle of the $%#@^ continent 2000 miles away from any ocean. We hardy pioneer types are into delayed gratification and guilt over expensive food. (–>insert loud screaming<–)
Perfect meal:
tent on beach
sunset
whole boiled crab and lobster purchased from dock side joint
butter (melted in Sierra Club cup on car manifold)
quartered lemons
several bottles good, dry white wine
fresh corn (wrapped in foil, cooked on car manifold)
garlic bread (ditto)
lots of napkins
Veb
Who can make a killer hollandaise in a Sierra Club cup heated, yup, on a car manifold.
I saw this yesterday and have been starving for my favorite meal every since. I used to work in downtown Oakland and there is a hole-in-wall Mexican Restuarant(usually the best kind) called Happy Burrito that has the best burritos in the world. They have lines down the block, even in the pouring rain!
I had ONE of my favorite meals for lunch today (my favorites vary according to my whim):
BBQ ribs, pinto beans, and cole slaw. Funyuns to top the ribs. Iced tea with lemon to drink. Cooked by a real cowboy. He breeds and trains quarterhorses! I usually hit this little spot two or three times a week, it’s good, the ribs are juicy but not greasy, and he has the most marvelous rub…he makes wonderful BBQ beef, too, but I always get the ribs. The meat just falls off of the bone, ready to dunk in the sauce. This guy uses only wood fires, so it’s really barbecue.
3 way chili from back home in Cincinnati. Last time I was back there was in July for a Red’s game. Wasn’t able to stop at any of the wonderful places in Cincy and get some Looks like I’ll just have to talk my mom into making me some. Although it’ll be awhile before I’m home again so I’m screwed. I’d make it myself but I don’t have any of the cooking utensils for it.
My favorite meal right now is a real liver sausage sandwich on wheat bread with one of my Aunt Fran’s fresh (about three weeks out of the garden) dill pickles. MMMMMMMM I know it probably sounds gross but man, it brings back memories. And besides, home made dill pickles - there are few things better.
My favorite meal changes depending on hoe I feel and what’s fresh at the time. (Like Aunt Fran’s pickles.) MMMMM again I say.
