My first booked concert is Tuesday

As some of you might remember, I have a morning radio show here at Wabash College (the show’s website is here and the newly (finally after two years) updated station site is here) and in order to promote the show, or for bragging rights, I decided we needed to have a concert. Now, that dream is almost to full realization.

On April 19th at 8 pm, Brad Montague (his site) will be coming to Wabash to be the inaugural concert in the “Arson Show Presents Series.” Of course, the “Arson Show Presents Series” is something I came up with just now, and there aren’t any other acts lined up as of yet, but hopefully there will be. In any case, Brad’s coming this Tuesday to be on the show and perform that night. I realized that booking a concert (or, at least, this one) wasn’t quite as hard as I thought it might be. Just a few e-mails to Brad, a one for somebody to help me set up sound equipment, and hanging a few flyers with my co-host, and we’re ready to go. The only thing that had me worried was the lack of sound equipment, but I happened upon that kind of by chance, when one of my good friends mentioned that he either owned or knew people who owned the necessary equipment. (Adam, you’re a godsend.)

I really don’t know what the point of all this is. Just beating my chest, I suppose. If anybody is in the Crawfordsville area, or would like to make themselves Crawfordsville area for at least a night, you’re greatly encouraged to come to the show. It’s only $2 to get in, and there is planned to be pizza and drinks. I guess that was the obligated point of the post. (Wait, this is MPSIMS, why must I have a point? Its supposed to be pointless. Oh well, I haven’t used the backspace key yet, I’m not starting now.) Anyway, I’m excited and just felt the need to share, as this forum claims to be for.

Needless smilies!    ;j :stuck_out_tongue:

It all sounds very exciting JimSox5. I hope it’s a great success.

Thank you kindly, Cunctator. I hope it is, too, as I’m paying for Brad Montague to come out of my pocket, since I was unable to get funding from our Student Senate and the radio station has no budget for this sort of thing. I kind of did things out of order, which is bad, I know. I sent Brad a booking request before I established any sort of funding. Here’s to hoping that I can make some money back at the concert and so on and so forth.

Arson Show = BWHAHAHAHA.
You see I’m an Aussie and down here a butt /ass is pronounced arse.
So you would appear to me to have your Arse (ass) On Show.
As I said BWHAHAHAHA.

Good luck on the concert.

It wouldn’t be too far from the truth.
Err. . .wait. Ignore that last comment.

Anyway, the show gets its name from the hosts, Aaron (me) and Nelson (the other guy). So we don’t have any obsession with arses or fire, we just like our names, and Arson flowed better than Nelron.

The concert is tom…later today. Brad is sleeping in my bed right now, I moved to the floor. I’m too excited to sleep or something.

Here’s to hoping all goes well. . .wish me luck!

When it’s done, we want a detailed description of your triumph.

Well, the radio show this morning was a rousing success. I should have a clip of Brad performing live on the show pretty soon. The concert is in 4 and 1/2 hours.

Well, the turnout wasn’t quite what I had hoped for, but it was an awesome show. If you have a chance to see Brad Montague, I would seriously recommend him. His CD’s are good, but they are nothing compared to his live show. If you’re in this sort of position, you can probably book him yourself, he told me he has a rule that he has to go to every request he can possibly make it to.
