My first emergency repair in the new house; a handy MMP

Another day another dollar. My (mid)weekend was a joy og slacking off, but now back to the grindstone. At least nex week will be good. Tuesday I get to pick my package for hockey tickets. Next Saturday I’m going on vacation.
Drae sounds like a lightswitch rave.
taxi Demoing is when you remove a Stooge.
rigs, you look good. I can do a now picture, but the only then photo I have is my old high school yearbook.
:waves at rebo:
Jahdra, gas is only $2.91 here in Raleigh. I could mail you a can.
With all this fish talk, I’m going to have tunafish salad sandwiches for dinner.

Random thoughts:

You all need glasses. But thanks, you made my day!
I so want to go to a Ren Faire (note extraneous “e”). Could I be a strapping wench, with a sword? Nummers. Spats --you could just stick the sword into your belt and be all pirate-y. Wear eyeliner.
I started my paper for grad school. I am stuck for the dumbest of reasons–spats, help this ignorant slut out.

How do I cite a book, print journal or online site within the body of the paper? I never wrote papers in college (except for Shakespeare) --I wrote care plans. Trust me, papers seem easier already…
I also went to print what I have so far, and Word tells me that it can’t proof it because it doesn’t know what language to proof it in.
So, I followed the directions and re-installed the whole thing. Now I have 2 icons on my dock. I hate computers. The directions said that it wouldn’t do that, that it would only fill in the holes, so to speak. I still don’t know if it can proof in English. Oy.

Tel -that hair comes to you courtesy of 2+ hours in a salon, and one hour of flat-ironing. On really humid days, I look like Shirley Temple on acid.

I considered pizza, cuz it sounded yummy, but then I remembered that I had some sketties left over from the other day. So I zapped them and added some nice melty cheese. There there will be veggies (cucumber and red pepper). And maybe a wee bit of ice cream.

Nice pic, rigs. I like the idea of a picture MMP, too. Oh, and did I wish you a happy birthday the other day? I don’t remember. Oh, and I think your Mom wins the technophobia award. Is she able to operate her own TV these days?

Has **Puggy ** been here this week at all? Did she say something about a vacation last week? I can’t remember that either. It appears I’m getting old.

Doesn’t TPC know that she’s obligated to be part of, in fact, the reason for, Dopefests all over America? Doesn’t matter that she’s not an active Doper. She’s the daughter of a world-famous Doper fercryinoutloud! There’s a rule! I’m sure there is.

Sorry you’re feeling homesick, Meeks. I get the same thing with both Mexico and Germany. Little things will take me right back and make me miss Grandma’s house (which hasn’t been there for more than 20 years) or Far-Away Best Friend’s house.

Well… I’m kinda tired and thinking maybe I’ll take a nap. Or finish reading the current book. It’s pretty good, but one thing kinda bugs me: both Sunny Randall and Jesse Stone keep having these little exchanges that sound just like Spenser to me.

Back later…or tomorrow…hi to everyone I’ve missed…

GT

No-she doesn’t watch TV. The only movies she will go see are Harry Potter ones.

She doesn’t even listen to the radio–but she reads constantly, all manner of things.

Off to do stuff–work in AM.

Who is TDC?

      I could just spit! I lost one of my favorite earrings! I had it at 4:30 in the ladies room, but not at 6pm at the salon. So when I was was done there, I went back to the office to retrace my steps - no luck. And it’s not like it’s a tiny little post - it’s a hoopy thing with danglies and crystals. And usually, when i wear fishhooks, I put the little plastic plug on the end of the wire just in case - but the one day I didn’t want to be bothered . . . !

I hate when that happens. I once lost a favorite diamond stud in bed–and I didn’t even have hot monkey sex, I had just slept all noc. I did find it, eventually. Sorry for your loss…

Found a site with info re cites. I have an icon on my desktop that I did not put there. Argh. Off to do other things–I am too frustrated with computers right now.

Think of me, tomorrow, as you all sip iced tea and read the paper…I will be Saving Lives and Making a Difference. (or at least getting paid).

You had a stud in bed and you lost him?

Sloppy Joe’s were yummy. I’m considering popping a lawn chair outside and pretending to read while I wave at the neighbors.

That’s a beer activity by the way.

I won’t be saving lives tomorrow. Have to prime and paint the door frame around the screen door, wash the cars and run the Kid to Oakbrook (I’ll wave at the Apple store for ya rigs) so she can buy a $300 purse. I kid you not.

Sad news: I said goodbye to my doggie Molly today. It was hard, so hard.

My former husband has had her since I remarried and she’s 15 years old. Over the last year, she’s declined terribly – from a bounding, curious darling border collie to … a shadow of her former self. He’s going to take her to the vet tomorrow, and probably they’ll put her to sleep. I think there’s a neurological problem going on and she’s deaf and blind, bad hips … :frowning: :frowning: Poor doggie. She was my first baby. I’m glad I got to say goodbye today.

I won’t be saving lives, at least I don’t think I will be, but I don’t expect to hurt anyone either, so there’s that…

{{{{Ellen}}}}

I’m sorry b]Ellen**. I still miss my old dog from childhood. :frowning:

I should point out I meant at my place. We have a spare bed, and I already checked with the SO and he has no problem with it, nor does he have any plans for that weekend. (He probably won’t be going with us or anything). But if that makes it less consecutive travel time for you…

Ellen, lots of hugs. I know it’s hard but know you made the right decision. Knowing when to say goodbye is a part of owning a doggy, too.

Telperien, I’d love to have you come to the Faire - except it’s a smidge out of your way.

Sigh. I am so scatter-brained sometimes. This was directed to Spats, of course.

I’m sorry, Ellen. :frowning:

I’ve been having fun this evening reorganizing everything plugged in in my office into brand-new power squids. I have so many trickle chargers for this, that, and the other thing that I need a ridiculous number of power strips for about 50 amps altogether, so Papa T. went squid-crazy. Except the big fancy computer squid will have to wait till tomorrow morning; I lack the energy to deal with all of that tonight. I’m tired. I got up earlier than usual this morning to be awake and presentable for the Verizon guy who was coming to install our new FIOS (fiber optic) service. So what time did he finally arrive? 6:15 p.m. I just love being trapped at home with a bunch of errands to run but not daring to leave the house. Yeah, right. Sigh.

I saw a woman with the most bodacious bosom I have ever seen at Dragon*Con a few years ago. She was abundantly endowed to begin with, and then she was wearing a bodice that made her truly eye-popping. I was envious. Even the best bodice in the world couldn’t give me that astounding bosom. Men were keeling over in her path.

    I found my earring - when I got into my PJs - it had fallen into my bra - I’d looked there, but didn’t go digging around Anyway - now I can go to sleep without anger

Whew! You know, there’s something to be said for actually going out and associating with other members of the human race every now and then. See, in my new job I am working across an aisle from another intern in my program. One of the researchers he works for invited him to dinner and I got invited along too. That was good - and the researcher is a vegetarian as well. We had tofurkey dogs for dinner. Yum. And, it turns out that the researcher has connections at BU: he’s close friends with a professor there for whom I worked as an intern a few years ago. Small world, eh? And the intern and I are both way into the old school Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stuff. After dinner we went to - gasp - a bar. We had Red Stripe beers. You’ve seen the commercials, I’m sure. (Hooray beer!) Lemme tell ya, it’s good beer, especially in the hot weather.

Anyway. One of my fellow students is in need! Captain Grad Student to the rescue!
rigs, anything and everything you will ever need to know about paper formatting and citing sources is right here (scroll down all the way to the bottom for the menu), at the Purdue University English Department MLA Formatting website. I lived by this in high school. (In college, I wrote very few papers, and the profs there weren’t sticklers about formatting. If it looked shiny and said good stuff, you got your A.)

Oh, and rigs? You show up at this Ren Faire on the 9th and I will wear eyeliner for you.

rosie - glad you found the earring. I HATE it when that happens. :stuck_out_tongue:

ELLLLEEENNNNN. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: Losing a dog sucks. I’m sorry.

And on that note, it’s time to sleep in. I love sleeping in. Hooray me! You probably won’t see me post in here until after noon, which is why I made all these comments now. Happy Saturdaying!

Wow. I skip a day of work and MMP to try to get my painting done, and y’all add 100+ posts on me.

Rigs, hubba hubba. How you doin’?

Rosie, you found your earring in your over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder? Find anything else, like Jimmy Hoffa?

Painting sucks. I have today to get it done. That is all.

It was a big bed!

A $300 purse? :dubious: I would let my kid buy it and then shrug when they cried poverty later…she can’t get a knock-off somewhere?

Sorry to hear about the dog, Ellen --it does sound like s/he had a good long run, though (small comfort, I know).

But wait–there’s more!

What would happen if I just quit my job? Seriously. I need to look at this, closely.

I am so dreading going in–it’s like this every morning before work (even the noc before).

Hmmm. Must weigh costs and benefits. That poor thing doesn’t look too appealling.

Spats --that’s the site I found! I bookmarked it. I wish I could go to the Ren Faire (note extraneous “e”)[sup]TM[/sup]. I want pics of all the wenches and brigands!
Tis 0552 at present–a GOOD morning to all of you!

(I don’t envy Vundie his painting–I have a ceiling and 2 rooms left to paint myself).

Pictures?
