At least I think they’re new. I’ve never heard them before, and he does that all the time. In both cases, I think they need no explanation.

“pedestal misogyny”
That is all.

Oh, I like these.
blamethrower can be found in Google Groups as early as 1999. Maybe he was the poster.
But he might have invented pedestal misogyny.
I know what the words mean by themselves, but what is pedestal misogyny?
I heard a phrase on the radio this week that I liked – the local NPR station was talking about health and exercise, and a caller said she doesn’t have time to exercise regularly but rather engages in random acts of fitness, like taking the stairs rather than an elevator, or parking farther away from work.
Oh, that’s really cool! Random acts of futness! I like it when the phrase describes something that lots of us do, but don’t have a term for.
“Pedestal misogyny” describes a type of man that I suspect most of us have run across – he clearly hates women on some (major) level, but he tries to cover it up by appearing to revere them. Or even expresses it by appearing to revere them.
I ran across an expression to describe the kind of situation where some bureaucrat or insurance company minion or whatever terminates health care benefits on cost grounds, even though the patient is not yet healthy, and the patient then becomes sicker and dies: death by spreadsheet.
“Random acts of fitness”. I’m going to have to remember that.
Mystery Men was released in 1999, and featured the BlameThrower.
Saw this as the word of the day on urban dictionary. Electile disfunction - the inability to get excited about any of the candidates running for election.
Formerly known as “Madonna/whore”.
I knew I had just recently heard the term! I watched Mystery Men a couple weeks ago.
I’ve invented one word and one phrase:
calculatte – to figure out the price of one of those fancy coffee drinks.
to go FEMA – for an institution to become totally incable of performing it’s assigned role due to hack political appointees in its leadership positions.
You’re right; I believe however that madonna/whore complex tends to assign one role only to women, i.e., wife is whore until she gives birth, then she is madonna & he must go find another whore. The idea being that she can be either one, *or *the other.
Pedestal misogyny is rather more insidious & nasty…like one man we know who left his wife and SEVEN children 20 years ago & never looked back because “he wasn’t good enough for them.” Maybe that’s not the best example, but if you knew him, you’d definitely understand.

Oooh, I like this.
Let’s go to the medical world, which Og knows it needs to have a new system and I shall be the start of it:
Obstetric & Gynocology is now: Obstecology.
I have used this metric system of this for years in regular convo and have never had anyone ask me, " What the hell are you talking about."
I’m thinking that some kind of melding between Proctologist and IRS Audit could be done: Pro-Audit or AssTax.
I had a “Uterectemy” in June. My hysteria remains.
Could be worse. You might have had a Utrechtomy, a procedure in which your Minorca is removed and implanted in the closest Englishman.
I would like to submit the following from a caffiene inspired CometotheDarkSideWeHaveCookies
lurkspank - carrying out an action to get someone to post more often.
I can’t wait to see the more common applications of this
