…on the second to the last day in April. So do we just not have seasons any more or what?
Our air conditioning is on today for the first time, in Sacramento. It’s 90 degrees.
April is the new March.
So May will be the new April.
At least we dont have tornadoes. Today.
You could have 100 degree heat, like we do in Texas.
Like the lady said, at least there aren’t any tornadoes. Here. Yet.
still could snow into May over the northern 48 states.
But “May” is really only “April” , so make that: snow in “June” is still a threat.
My AC went on yesterday for the first time. Heat index topped 100.
Cold here yesterday and today. Where’s that-air Global Warming I keep hearin’
about from FXMastermind?
…
I usually have a rule about turning the furnace on before November 1 (made it last year) and having it on after April 1 - that was completely out the window this year. It has been so cold and damp, I have had to have it on just a little to keep the chill off. I may have a hard stop for May 1, because that is just ridiculous.
Gimme some of your cold!
I’m in the sweet spot right now, in Tucson. Highs in the mid 80s, lows around 60°. I haven’t run the heat for about a month, and haven’t felt the need to run the A/C, although I have a fan running in my bedroom. I’m comfortable and not using any extra energy for heating and cooling.
I hear ya! I posted a jubilant, triumphant comment in the Chicago forum a week or so ago about having the heat off, and the windows open. Today, this afternoon, I arrived home from work and turned it back on, again. (It’s been on periodically since that triumphant post, too.)
I’m one of those turn-heat-on-November-1-turn-off-April-1 people, and that I did.
Then it suddenly became cold and damp.
I haven’t turned the heat back on. I have a fireplace, an electric blanket, and a couple of space heaters. I’m still wearing long underwear occasionally.
But yeah, on April 30th?
Here in Michigan we are definitely having seasons - this past winter was an absolute doozy and in my region we broke all kinds of records.
We’re ranging from the low 40s to the high 60s right now so my heat’s off (I like it cool.) I turn my heat on in the mornings so I can take a shower and not shiver my ass off afterwards. But we will still have some below-freezing lows between now and the end of May; that’s a given.
