By now, the insurance cavemen are merely boring, but the one in the bowling alley with the smarmy “Let me be myself” song has me diving for the mute button.
And the nasty little Scotsman! Listen, pal, most of the times when I thought with my dipstick, I came to regret it. :smack:
Glad I’m not alone. They don’t come across to me like they’re a response to the Mac ads, which I find funny still. I’ve worked with both computers and have had less issues with Macs. Problem is, they’re still too expensive…
I’d totally forgotten those annoying Windows 7 ads. Thanks for making THAT go through my brain again! Argh!
Remembered another commercial I’m hating right now: the Google phone ads with the Cat Stevens song. Now, I do like a few albums from Cat Stevens, but when I hear that particular song, I can’t dive for the remote and the mute button fast enough.
The Geico commercial with the fill-in lizard cracks me up. I like that one! I am also sick of the freaky money “thing”…
There’s a new one for Crestor where the guy says something about atherosclerosis then goes “…also known as Athro.” WTF? No it isn’t - you just totally pulled that out of your ass! Are they trying to make it sound like a hip brand of energy drink or something?
That reminds me of one I saw, many years ago, about some drug for overactive bladder. One of the side effects? Diarrhea. Yeah, that’s a great trade off…
As for irrational hatred of commercials. Target’s current campaign with that sappy song in the background while some annoying lady describes what’s going on. GRRR WHERE IS THE MUTE BUTTON The current ad is about some newlywed throwing her first Thanksgiving, but it’s not just that specific ad that bugs me, there was at least one before it that annoyed me just as much. It’s the song + voiceover doing it, not the fairly cute newlywed acting goofy.
Walmart’s recent ads annoy me too, but I hesitate to say much about them, as I think they take enough undeserved shit already so I don’t want to pile on with deserved shit.
