I live in North Central MA. There is enough snow on the ground for them to be sledding and building small snowmen.
It is November 13.
Anyone care for some hot chocolate? With lots of alcohol in it to make me forget that I live in New England by choice and I really shouldn’t be surprised by this?
On the contrary, this is the way the winter should start, snowing early and often. Except for the fact that I need to clean the house today I’m going to get out there somewhere, hopefully on skis, just for the heck of it.
Sounds good. Not a lot of snow here, but we’ve had flurries all morning. I hate to think what January will be like, it’s been so cold lately. Though another snowstorm would be fun. Let’s see if we can break last year’s record…
I was going to spend this weekend planting bulbs Oh well, at least I got to use my new snowblower. Sort of overkill for a couple of inches of wet snow that will melt in two days, though.
Winter in New England has been weirdly inconsistent over the past couple of decades. There have been winters where the first accumulating snows were on the first day of spring. Last year, we got 24" of snow in early December and then esssentially nothing for the rest of the winter. All told, I prefer the snowy winters -- it's better than looking at dead grass.
I’m in Upstate NY and it snowed here yesterday and last night, big light fluffy snowflakes. I was hoping to go sledding tomorrow, but it looks like it’s starting to melt now so I’ll probably have to wait.
