…Christmas! It’s been snowing here for two days. (It’s actually sticking, too). I haven’t even planted my tulips yet! (my husband gave me some ideas of where I could plant my “two lips”. Boy is he a big help)
I have a baaaaad feeling about this upcoming winter. ::shudder::
Anyone else getting snow yet?
On the up side, I may be able to learn to ski finally! (Bunny slopes)
We had flurries a week or so ago but nothing that stayed. Hopefully we will have some by Halloween, it makes it more fun when taking the kids out. I love snow, just hate the cold!
Well, down here in sunny Florida, we have had a 3 day stint of chilly weather. Makes all us thin-blooded people run for sweaters and jackets. We are such wimps when it comes to weather.
but… I LOVE IT!!! I miss NY where it actually has white stuff falling from the sky. I’ve seen it exactly 2x in the past 14 years. -sigh- I need a skiing vacation… Of course I had to marry a native floridian who is afraid of cold!!!
I didn’t mind cold weather when I lived in NY. And I don’t even mind it now that I’m in North Alabama. But 29 degrees for two mornings in a row, and it’s only Oct 10th ???
Yeesh! I’m usually wearing a T-Shirt through Thanksgiving!
I just hope we don’t get any snow this year. Half an inch literally freaks these people out, and shuts down the whole county, since no one can drive in it. I’m convinced the local weather people own stock in the grocery stores. The slightest hint of snow sends people into a shopping frenzy.
I hear ya Dire Wolf. Last year in Montgomery we had a snow advisory of 1 inch. You woulda thought the sky was falling and the earth had turned to pitch the way these people reacted.
Silly Southerners. Little snow ain’t gonna hurt ya. Of course I’m getting acclimated now and I actually thought yesterday with the high of 50 or whatever was cold. My father just laughed his ass off at me when I told him.
Jacksonville had record lows yesterday - and I had all the windows open - I LOVE fresh air!! Since '83, I think it’s snowed here twice - always melted by noon - yet the locals go nutso!! I think some of them think it’s an unnatural act here to drive less that 15 MPH over the posted speed limit, so the concept of slowing down for slippery conditions just doesn’t compute. Oh well, thin the herd…
Zette, where you are, I want to be! Where are you? In Denver, we had a light snow a couple of weekends ago. Does anyone know what form of ritual sacrifice is needed to bring snow?
Saturday night (or Sunday morning – I didn’t check my watch) we had about an inch of snow mixed with tiny sleet. It was melted off by noon, but it stayed cold most of the weekend. My living room heater went out and I had to buy and install a new thermostat for it. It works fine now.
Saturday evening, started as rain, then hail and next thing you know it was snowing. Yikes.
I’ve been burning the woodstove for the last 3 evenings because it’s been very cold. I still have things in my garden and the leaves are mostly still green.
I’m with you on the bad feeling thing. I can’t put my finger on it, but I have the same sensation. It’s going to be a brutal winter, I’m glad I have a woodstove and a SO who likes to keep the larder stocked!
I was visiting my relatives in northern Wisconsin this weekend (drove up from Madison) and we had about 10 inches of snow with temperatures at nigh in the low 20s. Bring it on, I say!
We got 4 inches of snow on Tuesday, the thermometer dropped to -12C or 10F and it was cold, I was sure that winter was a month early ::shiver::. Then we had a warm front and the temp increased to 22 C or 70F, which is about 5C or 9F above normal. It’s so nice that I can sit there and look like this
