My Misspent Youth - the MMP

Now would be the perfect time for a story about some horrific parenting mistake that ruined my life forever…but I can’t think of one. Dammit, MamaTigs! I guess your methods of screwing your kids up were…subtle.

Ah hah! I have succeeded!

<drily> yes, now she’s out of the house, she has to pay for her own therapy. :dubious:

I’m sorry you’re bored. I am toying with doing some homework; scanning some pics in or taking a bath and going to bed. I think the rest of the MMP got a life on us and actually went out or something. Galling.

ETA: or maybe they all got caught up in the sitting in the dark stuff? Nobody sat next to me, I can tell you that. Just the cat and he’s no fun.

I woke up hurting, worked hurting, and am going to bed hurting. Only 23 hours of work left before vacation. I was at work between 8 an 9, so the doghouse was pretty dark.

snowbunny, my mom taped over my tapes of Stalag 17 amd Alexander Nevsky with St. Elsewhere. It made me what I am today. :twitches:

yawn

If I were sitting in the dark right now I’d be sleeping! My buddy and I got together this morning and bashed out thirty generators between the two of us–it’s amazing how much we can get done when there aren’t any chowderheads around and the phone doesn’t ring off the hook!

I borrowed my daughter’s bathtub on the way home and bathed the dog, who really really REALLY needed it! Now he’s all curly and sweet smelling and fluffy and I just want to pet him all day. He was a very brave boy today and managed to conquer his fear of the arc welder AND figured out how to orient himself so’s not to catch an eyeful of glare, smart puppy.

The BBC Pratchett miniseries kicked ALL THE ASS IN THE WORLD, and Sean Astin was the perfect Twoflower! If you can find this watch it, I am totally serious, it is fabulous.

Nice 'nanner hammock there, swampy, rowwrrr! He’d look better without it, though…

**Tigs, ** I have total Chair Envy now, darn you! I want, I want, ehn, ehn!

:: hugs for doggie ::

Gay Husband is visiting Chicago tomorrow. I don’t think I’ve mentioned him before - he’s part of our circle of friends from grad school. We were never best buddies - I was close with Scottish Darling and Capt. Cheekbones, while Gay Husband was inseperable with The Princess. But when Capt. Cheekbones and The Princess started dating we naturally saw more of each other, and last summer we all hung out at The Princess’s family cabin on Lake Huron. I used to think Gay Husband was rather pretentious, but the more I get to know him the more I love him. Anyway, I call him Gay Husband because we’re planning to marry each other - I get a green card, and he gets to reassure his parents (who don’t know he’s gay). It’s a perfect plan, mwahaha.

Er, where was I? Anyway, he’s visiting for the UChicago prospective PhD students event thing. Although I don’t know why he’s bothering; he got into Princeton, for chrissake. It’ll be nice to have a bit of a reunion though. I miss grad school! Except for the studying part, heh.

My camera is dead, and I’m procrastinating (lazy) with buying batteries.

So instead I’ll paint a picture. ** Rosie** is a fun sweet woman, who was actually more normal than I expected. mmousie is a reserved and quiet but very intelligent young lady. Hawkguy is as much of a geek as I am but much better at math and with a better haircut. And apparently I am a “Wow, you’re much smaller than I pictured” sort of guy in real life (rosie’s quote, I believe).

PS: I apologize for not getting back to you sooner about sat night’s festivities. My phone also died when I planned to call you and I actually left you a voicemail from Auto’s cell phone when I met him.

Had a nice afternoon. My friend had a bad one though, her fiance’s house got broken into by friends of the roomie and they started giving him some story about how they were doing it for him (roomie) blah blah blah. Called the cops and roomie who was less than pleased also.

He needs to move outta there.

Well once that was settled they came over to do mine and Mom’s hair (she’s a hairstylist and does house calls!) then we fed them supper (homemade pizza!) and we three went out for a drive for the evening. So we weren’t even home during earth hour (thus, lights off).

Tomorrow the plan is hang around home and since we stopped at Ikea the other day to get the pegs for my bookshelf I can put it up and get my baskets of yarn off the floor as well as the piles of books (I need to stop buying books… maybe…).

I love my new hair though, she always does an awesome job. It was too long before and now it’s just a great length and nicely red again and she also gave me this scrunchy hair stuff to add in that makes my hair go all kinda curly and hold it that way (it’s wavy, not curly, but it looks more wild now).

See?

Good thing other people were turning off lights on my behalf tonight. Not only did I forget all about it, I actually installed two light fixtures in the workshop this afternoon. OOPS!

**Rigs **-- I would have sat with you had I known you needed somebody. Too bad I was asleep :frowning: Who knows what could have happened in the dark

**Swampy **-- it’s OK; the electric company doesn’t like it when there’s a sudden drop (or surge for that matter) in electricity consumption, so you were just helping save wear and tear on the generation systems

**Haze **-- why would you want to marry a gay guy for the green card? I’m not gay and you could get a green card and all the other perks of having a guy  And if he can hide his gayness, I could try and hide my second marriage
… Too bad bigamy is illegal… :frowning:

**Flutterby **-- Loved the picture. I definitely think I should be flirting with you more

*BosMump – where are the fing pictures already!?!?

Took in **Silly **for de-emasculation today… conehead pictures may ensue if I remember to take them :o I did warn him yesterday that he’s going to look like a lamp tomorrow. I don’t think he understood though… especially considering that this morning was probably the easiest cat-catch of the millenium *Chez *Special

Howdy all. Hubby took a sick-day today and we just went out for Chinese for lunch. Sorry, but no fortune cookies! :frowning: I am stuffed to the gills though, after eating spring rolls, prawn toast, deep-fried garlic squid, kung-pao chicken, peking prawns and some of hubby’s deep-fried chilli-garlic crab, along with special fried frice! We have a metric buttload of leftovers for dinner tonight!

I am now in my second-to-last week in the sh*thole job! Looking forward to a week off then on to greener pastures!

Hugs to all who need 'em - they still keep giving me work to do! :dubious:

Since I haven’t done one in a while, I’ll do tomorrow’s OP. I’m sure there’s sump’n rattlin’ around in my haid that’s OP worthy. However, if one of our newer cool kids feels up to tryin’ his/her hand, I’d be jake with that too. Either way, we’ll have us a MMP.

Up and caffienatin’ here. Looks kinda cloudish out like maybe rain. I hope so. It’s also warm. According to the weather it’s 65 Amurrkin out right now which is nice.

Ok, off to find more caffiene, scrounge up brekkies and purtify for churchification.

Later Y’all!

I’ll fight you for it.

C’mon, c’mon!

Caffeinated, and off to work. I got the Don Wannas today.

Ok, <pulls beebs hair and gives him a wedgie>

Mom goes on vacation and see what happens!!! Seeee!!! I’ma tell!!

So you have what…4 days left in the old job, Dotty? Yay!

I’m up. Not really awake. Need to get ready for church.

Back later.

GT

:: noogie ::

I’m here, but not awake. I got up at about 6:30 this morning and was immediately ushered into the computer room to watch the original episode of Lost In Space. Actually, it was kind of cool. After that and piddling around for another hour I went back to sleep. I didn’t want to get up yet, but we HAVE to go grocery shopping for work tomorrow in a little bit. Ugh. Sam’s Club is a total zoo on Sundays. Hopefully we’ll stop for brunch before we go. Because even though I’ve just eaten a very nutritious brownie  :stuck_out_tongue: , I’m still starving!

Hey GT! Check your PMs.

Nah - the rest of this week and all of next week so :counts on fingers: … 9 days left. But the partners go away at the beginning of next week (partners’ meeting in Barcelona, then client seminars in Frankfurt and Stockholm), so I will be taking a few liberties next week, methinks!
