What did you guys think of last night’s episode?
Good to have Earl back! I liked the episode, all in all. Favorite moments:
- Catalina exults that her stalker has been paralyzed
- Randy recognizes himself in Earl’s description of the worthless, shiftless guy
- Earl takes everything out of the guy’s motel room to keep him from amusing himself
- Randy on his cellphone
- Earl’s realization that Randy really has learned from him
- Joy and her faux Mr. Turtles
- The turtle-delivered public service announcement about turtle safety in the filming of the episode: “Now don’t write us any letters, you cranks!”
I recognized the actress who played the mom of the spoiled “kid” from when she played the chirpy TV correspondent on Murphy Brown. Haven’t seen her in awhile!
Earl punching holes in the condom reminded me of a Cold War-era myth (maybe), in which the CIA did that to a literal boatload of Soviet-supplied condoms in a wharfside warehouse in India, so that the Soviets would be blamed for shoddy goods when a whole lot of little Indians popped into the world.
God bless American flanges!
Funny, Mr. Turtle doesn’t look Jewish.
The mom, Faith Ford, was in a short-lived series from last year called Carpoolers.
Oddly enough, she played the chirpy mom of a total deadbeat manchild son
I’m surprised he didn’t start playing with himself
This was definitely one of their better episodes.
The young couple “back in the day” talking about how great “Risky Business” is.
Earl barges in on them in present day and they are decked out in Risky Business sexual role-play attire.
I never knew his first name was Seymour, either. I liked when Joy was trying to make the fake Mr. Turtle more energetic by rubbing the bottom of his shell, as if she thought his naughty bits were down there.
He seemed to like it! Did you notice the sound-effects guys added some turtle squeaks and grunts here and there throughout the episode?
That kid who plays Earl as a teenager is fantastic. He is exactly what Earl would have been like at that age. The parents being dressed up in Risky Business costumes when Earl came to look for Randy was hilarious. I also enjoyed that Mr Turtle was jewish, that must have been one skillful moil.
This was my favorite part. Although seeing Catalina in her outfit was a close second.
Yeah but seeing Catalina in her work clothes is the best part of EVERY episode
Nah, the best part was Mr. Turtle at the end, with a song in the background singing “sloooow Jooourney!”
I liked the “I’m not pregnant!” celebration in the Crab Shack in the first scene.
BTW, what was the tune they played at the dance contest at the flange convention? The one with the deep, distorted voice at the beginning? I don’t think we’ve heard that, or seen the hook-'em-and-reel-'em-in routine, since Earl and Randy first helped Kenny the Gay Copy Place Guy.
It Takes Two, Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock.
That’s it - thanks! How did you know? Is it a favorite of yours?
Graduated HS in 1989. Any idea how many school dances, semi-formals, and proms that was played at?
Am I wrong to find Faith Ford totally hot? (comparing our ages) Nope, still a Hot, Young Chick, near as I can tell.
Nope! I’d never heard it before it was on Earl.
Erm, well I’m a girl and I wouldn’t know BUT I will take the “woman admiring another woman” angle and say that she does not seem to have aged much since she was Corky Sherwood-Forest.
