My Name is Earl 4/30

I think that was one of the funniest episodes ever.

It seemed like I laughed every 10 seconds. I kept having to rewind to hear it again because I was laughing so much.

[ul]
Randy’s issue with the toothpix [sic], and his letters.
[/ul]
[ul]
Geraldo Rivera!
[/ul]
[ul]
Joy getting dry-humped in the parking lot!
[/ul]
[ul]
The running joke of Earl’s eyes being closed in every single picture.
[/ul]

So many more…

What was your favorite bit?

I wanted to kick Geraldo every time he said “restauranteur.” THERE IS NO “N” in “restaurateur,” you dumb shit. And I don’t think it was a joke.

Otherwise, yes, it was so funny it was hard to believe it was only half an hour long! Catalina and Patty the Daytime Hooker tag-team-dating: “She shakes the bottle and I pop the cork.”

Learning that Earl’s middle name is Jehosaphat. Randy’s middle name is Doo – Randall Doo Hickey.

Getting fish wings stuck in your teeth. Darnell explaining that the seafood they serve at the Crab Shack is basically just “chum.”

And of course the line that brought tears of happiness to my eyes: Joy looks at her watch, waits for just the right moment . . . “Douchebags.”

“Me in a coma? Who the hell wants to see that?”

Not me.

Randall Doo Hickey!!!

“Earl, everybody has things they’re proud of. I went to prom in the sixth grade.” --Joy

Almost peed my pants, and that was in the first two minutes.

I loved how they had everybody’s kid pictures. My husband and I were laughing out loud through the whole show.

Didn’t crack a smile. The show was funny when it was essentially confined to the bizarre town of Camden. Now that they’ve got people like Rivera playing themselves, or an unfunny slightly-satirical version of themselves, it does nothing for me. I might just stop watching the show; I hated it when they started that stupid secret agent stuff with Darnell.

One of the famous people mentioned in Randy’s letter was Stew E. Griffon.

I’ve never in my life heard that word said your way. It’s always had an “n” in it any time I’ve heard anyone say it, not just Gerardo.

Now excuse me, I need to go eat some fishwings.

The way Rivera was getting sick because he hadn’t acclimated to the low quality of the fish cracked me up.

I laughed at the unsupervised baby in diapers that would scurry across every scene.

Could that have been Dodge?

There were just too many inconsistencies in it to keep me involved in the story. The TV show was supposed to have been on hold for 8 years. Geraldo (who gave an absolutely awful performance and was used way too much) said he was filling in for Stone Phillips. But the 8 year old footage had Geraldo and not Stone. Lot’s of stuff like this. The canon for “Earl” is being bent up too much.

Fish wings?

But he said that in the same intro where he told viewers his network had been working on the show for eight years. I took that to mean Phillips is the current host and that Geraldo was filling in for him on the particular evening the show aired, even though Geraldo was the original reporter eight years ago.

Best episode in a long while. So many good bits:

Earl trying to light his farts and setting his pants on fire.

The cops explaining why they don’t worry about missing persons.

“Are you wearing makeup?”

I liked how they mentioned Ernie’s brother, Quizno, invented the toasted sub.

I missed that one! Hee!
