John Waters, Baltimore’s favorite effed up son, plays a “creative” funeral director.
“Everything except the canon thing. That sounds kind of dangerous.”
And Crabman’s clip-on tie above the collar.
I love the little touches on this show.

A sweet ending.
And, for the first time in a while, Catalina’s back.
What a great episode – I was a bit teary at the ending.
Do we know where Camden is now?
I think the funeral director mentioned “Macon”. Georgia has both a Camden county and a Macon.
Hmm…

Ha! Catalina, I couldn’t think of her name! Glad that they are following up on the Randy/Catalina “marriage.”
And tonight, there was a total shout-out to the Television With Out Pity forums! Was a great show. John Waters was perfectly cast as the “creative” funeral home director; it’s something that you could see him doing a movie about. Crabman was most disturbed to think that the dead guy (Josh Wolf, btw) was wearing his suit. And Joy was visited by Josh in her dreams and had an attack of conscience. Don’t think it will last for very long, though. LOL
If you aren’t watching this show, you should.
It was a funny if somewhat uneven show. I guess we know how Joy is going to stay out of jail now. Nice appearance by Mr. Waters, he seems like such a great fit for the show, I hope we see him again. It really took off when the fish disappeared. What did Joy call the Internet, the Wide World of Web?
The poker game gag was hilarious.
I am still waiting to see Kevin Smith make a short appearance. I figure it will happen eventually.
Good Night Mr. Prickly,
Jim
Randy got off the line of the night this time.
“I’ve never gotten a regular massage before. What’s the point? Its like drinking non-alcoholic beer”.
Wasn’t that cool? It looks like someone from the show even posted a few times before tonight’s episode, setting things up.
Crabman, worrying about Josh’s junk in his wedding suit.
I’ve got a question. Every week, after the resolution to the show (with Earl’s voiceover summing things up) we go to a commercial with an announcer saying, “Stay tuned for more Earl!” Then, when the commercials are over, the programming goes right into “The Office.”
What’s up with that? Am I missing something? Is my local station cutting something out? I haven’t seen an Earl/Randy “goodnight” scene in a while. Have they had one recently? This is driving me nuts! It happens at the end of 30 Rock also. “Stay tuned for more 30 Rock!” So I wait, but there’s no more 30 Rock!
Are they just telling us to tune in next week for more Earl? Cause if so, then that’s what they should say! “Stay tuned for more Earl” means there ought to be more Earl coming right up. But there isn’t!
I am so confused.
[/end rant]
Tonight there was a brief tag during the credits for 30 Rock – it was the very first episode of Gold Case!
The fatal flaw is that a suitcase full of gold is really, really heavy.
Apparently there was a planned episode with Jay and Silent Bob appearing on the list as “those two dope dealers I ripped off” but the network axed the idea of a drug-themed episode.
But they did do a bit of a drug episode a few weeks back with Christian Slater.
Jim
The set-up line was good too.
"He does know it’s just a massage, right? I’m sick of seeing their hips go up and hearing, ‘You missed a spot.’ "
Other good stuff:
Earl: When someone you kidnapped passes away, any normal person is gonna be upset.
Joy: WOOOOOOOO! My witness is day-ud!
Joy: That’s just your conscience, stupid. Ignore it! It’s how I got through cheatin’ on you all those years. Please… You know how many times I saw you standing on the hood of my car while I was humpin’ Darnell?
“No… I don’t think shows should do more meta-jokes that cater to the online bloggers, and I’m sure that everyone at Television Without Pity agrees with me.”
heh. Nice.
The Indian gal on the computer at the funeral giving her words about Josh, then…
“Excuse me… Hello, this is technical support, how can I help you today? My name is Mary Smith…”
(loved that one)
Joy’s confession that she’d like to marry the Geico mascot.
“I don’t feel mad because I don’t want to hit anybody. And I don’t feel sad because I don’t want to hit anybody.”
“Then that fellow got killed on the beach. And then that other fellow got killed on the beach. And then that fellow didn’t get killed. And then he took his helmet off. And then he got killed on the beach.”
Did you notice how the stiff’s arms snapped to his sides when he went out the door? Great!
I still think Camden County is is Maryland. It has to be - crabs and John Waters.
Absolutely. They’ve been to Hagerstown and Cumberland in previous episodes, both of which are in Maryland. As a Marylander, I’ll be more than happy to claim Earl as one of my own. Sadly, I know people just like him. And Joy. And Randy.
I don’t post over at TwoP, although I do get some of the recaps, but I’m sure they’re going nuts over there with the shout out. Does anyone have a link to a thread over there? They don’t recap MNIE, so I don’t know where to look.
The look on Joy’s face when she realized she was feeling guilt for the first time in her life killed me.
Also, her two-finger typing on Josh’s computer, her imitation of her “deaf lawyer” and the way she was watering Mr. Prickly with an eyedropper.
In addition to the other points mentioned, the honored guest we see in the first Living Tableau is wearing a Redskins jersey and has a Redskins helmet bowl for his chips (that may or may not be dead–John Waters never actually answered Randy’s question.)
I thought the show was uneven until we found out about the guy’s computer friends and then I laughed a dozen times.
