It all started a few years ago. I had a question I just couldn’t seem to find an answer to. I can’t remember what it was, but that doesn’t matter. When I first found TSD I was in heaven! So, ever since then, it’s been a daily habit. I just can’t stop myself. I thought I could cut down, a few questions here, a few curiosities there, but alas, it has been no use. I’ve wandered onto the boards here and there before, but lately they seem to be calling to me…
I wanted to say hello to all the wonderful and fascinating people here, as it seems I might be spending more time here. The day I got a job where I had internet access was the day I knew I’d never get over my addiction…::sigh::
This is my first actual thread, so, I beseech ye, be gentle!
After years of lurking, quoting Cecil and claiming it as my oun, and thinking, “Hey, I knew that” I came out of the closet a few days ago. My family was devastated, but hey, you gotta be yourself.
Boy, I’m glad I’m not addicted like all you losers. No sir, there are good and valid reasons why I’m reading the Board instead of studying for an exam. And as soon as I think of what those reasons may be, I’ll let you know.
I am soo not addicted! I never read the boards while I am supposed to be doing homework! Never! You can see that this is all true because of my low post count!

You’re not really addicted until you spend more time browsing the boards than anything else – including sleeping, which you only get around to doing at 1:30am PST, when the hamsters take their short nap and you’re forced to look up.
Say, do you folks know about Opera, the browser that lets you have multiple windows load up at launch, so that one can effectively have each SD forum as a “homepage”? No? Well, until you do, then I’m a bigger junkie than all of you! They’ll get my SDMB when they pry it from my cold dead fingers!
Not only that, with Opera, you can ctrl-shift-click every thread in a forum that appeals to you, and they’ll all load in the background, in full-screen windows, inside Opera, so your task bar remains uncluttered. This is especially useful when you know that the hamsters’ nap is approaching, and you don’t feel like sleeping just yet.
(And pages load faster, too.)
If only the spoiler tags worked, it would be perfect. It’s still waaay better than any other browser for reading the boards.
Oh, and you don’t lose your posts when your request times out… A little alert window opens, instead of taking you to a new freaking page that says “Dude, your request timed out.” Arrrgh!
Doesn’t anyone on the IE development team use the damned web?
Summary: Opera is THE addiction enabler. God bless 'em.
