I never liked this show…
Actually, I refused to watch it, until recently the CW picked it up. I only get two channels at my house, CW and PBS. On a clear night, my rabbit ears might pick up another local channel but it’s usually not worth the fight against the static.
I reluctantly started watching and have become hooked. How did I miss this show before? I will say, I’m very glad that CW took over and put this show on. I do enjoy their new programming, although I have a few little problems with their scheduling (not that that matters).
What I like most is - an incredibly good selection of music on the series. Usually, a series has one or two songs per season I enjoy, especially shows on the CW (or WB when it was still the local broadcast of that a few weeks ago) but wow. It seems like every night this show has a decent song in one episode they show, or at least twice a week.
So dopers, what television shows do you think carry a pretty good soundtrack? Which ones make you want to cry because they are so bad?
I love Scrubs too, and it also took me a few seasons before I gave it a chance. Since it started in syndication last month on both the local station and Comedy Central, my brother has also gotten hooked. If you like the humor, you may also want to try The Office (Thursday nights on NBC, but since you don’t get it, the first two seasons are on DVD) and Arrested Development (canceled, but all three seasons are on DVD).
As for soundtracks in shows, I have to admit, Grey’s Anatomy has AWESOME songs in it.
Big fan of the soundtrack on Scrubs. I also think the sense of humor is great. I was reminded just yesterday of a great acoustic version of Overkill by Colin Hay. I set it as the current song on Myspace (if you want to hear it go to myspace and search under music for Colin Hay).
I think we would’ve had many great songs in the show “Love Monkey” if it hadn’t been canceled after 4 episodes. Fortunately, nowadays the show producers are getting rights to the songs they use, so we don’t have a repeat of the whole WKRP fiasco.
So funny that you posted this, just last night Mr. Bunny put this on while I was making dinner, and by the end of the episode I was cracking up and telling him “Oh, we’re definitely going to start watching this!”
I don’t know why I never checked it out before. :smack:
I’ve never heard of “Love Monkey” (of course, this has a lot to do with the rabbit ears and such) but out of curiousity, why was it cancelled after 4 episodes?
It got pretty low ratings. Overall, it was okay, but it wasn’t great. They played four episodes and then VH1 played the rest of the unaired episodes. I don’t anticipate it coming back. Didn’t really bother me in the end, though, because if I want to see Tom Cavanaugh, I’ll watch the dvd’s I burned of “Ed.”
Join the club. I’ve been watching Scrubs since Episode 1 and think its one of the funniest and most creative shows on TV. Now that I get 1 hour per weeknight of Scrubs, I am in sit-com heaven.
I liked what I saw of Love Monkey! I love Tom Cavanaugh, but I never really got into Ed. He’s great on Scrubs, though. “Hey, little brother!”
I’m a devoted Scrubs fan - I’ve been watching it from the first season. Once in a while, my husband and I will go on Scrub-a-thons and just start watching it all over from season 1. Lately,I’ve been thinking I’m due to do that again! I agree that the music does rock. I hate how NBC has screwed around with this show and its scheduling so much - it should have been way more successful. I’m looking forward to January, for the new season, but I’m worried it may be their last… I never want it to end!
Exactly what I was going to say, well close enough at least.
I’ll third Grey’s Anatomy. The 30 seconds of End of The World Party they played did more for me for Medeski, Martin and Wood than 3 concerts off of etree.org ever did.
I’d have to add Freaks and Geeks. Not only did they have great music, but they employed it so well.
I had forgotten all about Freaks and Geeks, I miss that show.
I imagine it’s out on DVD but I think I’ll have to wait to purchase it.
Thanks Crawlspace!
