My daughter is a freshman and had an awards banquet because she is in the top 3% of her class (they don’t give class rank anymore). We are very proud of her. My wife comes over saying it is too bad we didn’t bring a camera as she is over there getting pictures taken with a couple of her friends. My daughter is also a bit of a jock so it is rare to see her dressed up with her hair done. I realized… Hey, I’ve got my Droid and it has a pretty good camera in it. My wife grabs me and I start reaching for the Droid and then realizing that I don’t think I’ve ever really used the camera before. Anyway, I am being rushed to get a shot so everyone can move on (this is all while being pulled through a crowd of people)… I figured how to get it into camera mode… found the button to take the picture… moved it so that was on the top where I could easily push it… saw the little view finder in the upper right corner just where it should be… put it to my eye…
About this time I hear hysterical laughter and my daughter screaming OMG Dad. That’s about the time it dawned on me that my Droid doesn’t have a viewfinder that you look through. No, that is the lens and I was showing the girls a great close up of my eye on the great big screen pointing at them. My wife realized about that time what I was doing, and couldn’t stop laughing. I finally did get a picture but it took some time for my daughter to remove her hands from her face and to get the others to stop laughing.
My wife later admitted it kind of made her happy, because that was exactly the kind of thing her Dad would have done.
