My picks for Ugliest/Stupidest Cars. Your picks?

The oh-so-stylish ovaloid on the Jaguar grille looks just like a toilet seat. Now I know what the “s” in S-Type stands for.

For me it’s got to be the Aztec. Besides the fact that it looks too boxy, it seems to me that it was made for people that know they need to drive a minivan, but wish they could drive an SUV.

Cars I find ugly-

Honda Element- Watching one of these things perilously navigate a small tunnel reminds me of some mentally disabled kid cramming a square peg into a round hole.

Scion XB- Its like a smaller, boxier version of the Honda Element. If mini-me wanted to drive his own minivan, he’d take one of these. Its like a mini-mini-van!

The Aztek is bad, but Mitsubishi’s SUV is almost as bad and the Hyundai Sante Fe is pretty awful as well.

Poetgrrl I agree with you completely, here’s some pickies.
Honda Element http://www.velocityphotos.com/images/stk/2003/hn2003element01.jpg
Scion http://images.forbes.com/images/2002/04/01/scion_415x244.jpg

and how about this Fiat http://home.pon.net/hunnicutt/images/fiat.jpg

The Porsche Cayenne.

Sure, it goes like a scalded cat (if you plunk down $90K for the S), but it looks like the boys in Stuttgart just borrowed the Tourreg (sp?) body and slapped an enlarged 911 front on it.

Should have stuck with sports cars.

ugliest cars in Britain

You really can’t tell from the ads or a photo, but once you see the new Mazda RX-8 in person, you’ll understand how ugly the front fenders are. They look like they were stolen from the PT cruiser.

I nth the vote for the Aztek. Whenever I pass one I wish I had a barf bag in my car.

What year Duster don’t you like? My wife owned a '73 version, and while not exactly a beautiful car, it wasn’t much uglier than average.

I’m surprised no one mentioned a Ford Despair^h^h^h Aspire. I stuck with one by the rental car company when my car got totaled. What a piece of crap, with a gas tank practically in the back seat. I made the mistake of driving it while looking for a new car, and I could see the salesmen trying to avoid me. Ugh.

Vespa, please stick to making mopeds.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you a yellow Pontiac Aztek.

I swear it looks like they took the upper half of one car and dropped onto another car.

They’re uglier in person.

I agree Azteks suck.

But the Honda Element is by far the worst in-production car.

Even Honda’s own website refuses to show you a picture of the whole vehicle because it’s just nasty. http://www.hondacars.com/models/model_overview.asp?ModelName=Element. I looked all through the rest of the pages there and could not find a photo of the car with the doors closed. Too ugly.

IRL they’re even worse; a mishmash of plastic and metal that looks like it snaps together like a kid’s Transformer toy, or maybe something made of LEGOs. It’s not stylish, it’s not aggressive, it’s not passive, it’s not even utilitarian-looking.

It looks like a deliberate attempt to be ugly and expensive-looking at the same time. Well, they succeeded halfway; it looks ugly.

At least the Rasheed looks like what it is: a cheap-as-possible high-lift station wagon. Style costs money and the intended Rasheed owner (maybe a delivery business) just wants cheap functionality.
For out-of-production ugly, any early 70’s AMC product in day-glow green is pretty much the limit case. The Pacer or Matador were the worst, the Gremlin was pretty bad, but even the Javelin was one ugly muscle car.

My brother had a real beat-up day-glow green '71-ish Javelin back in his High School days lo those many years ago. It was embarassing even then.

Amen and amen to that. (But worse, have you seen the puke green Aztek? I instantaneously blew lunch all over my steering wheel. Took me weeks to get out the stench.) Discussion over.

Besides,…the Axiom, Beetle, Z3, Prowler and Cruiser are some of the coolest looking cars on the road, so I must recuse myself from further discussionl. Once you’ve said “Aztek”,…every other car looks stunningly beautiful by comparison.

The Honda Element actually doesn’t look all that bad.

Compared to the Aztek.

Yea the Aztek is sick they dont even make it anymore. and the new Beetle is pretty rude. i kinda like the Audi TT. AND THE PT CRUISER! MY GOD! whos i deas was that?! ‘The Personal Transportation Cruiser’? thats the most stupid car i have ever seen, like when they put the wood on the side of it? trying to make it look like an old woodies cars or sumthing. ive actually seen one drive around with flames on it. sad…

H2. Stupid, ugly, useless. It screams “I HAVE A TINY PENIS!”. I saw a yellow one passing a special ed. bus and if it had “LAIDLAW” on the back and a little pop out stop sign on the side I would have been hard pressed to tell the difference.

Ahem.

PT Cruiser.

New Hummer (an expensive box on wheels, yeuck)

Chevy Avalanche “XUV.” (Is it a truck? Is it an SUV? Is it ugly? [ yeah.)

So the Aztek is that ugly vehicle in my apt complex! Good to know. Nasty.

Another vote for the Aztec.

Someone I know has one… He’s proud because he says he can just open the back and hose it out.

Eh, too lazy to use the vacuum… Where’s the hose?

I don’t see why this isn’t considered a BAD thing.

The original Hummers. Those have GOT to be the ugliest. Not to mention useless.

Yes, I realize that there might be SOME who actually use them for their intended ultra 4bying purposes. But the ones I see (even here in the Last Frontier wilds of AK) are pristine and have likely never seen a dirt road, let alone the boondocks.
