My Plans to Be Good in 2007

In a leap of good faith, I’m attempting to be good in at least ONE area of my life during 2007.

A few weeks ago, I took on a part time job to have more income to pay off some of my credit card debt (and immediately doubled all payments, and in some cases, tripled them) with the intent of paying them off by the end of 2007 (or at least as close to paying them off as possible).

Also, I was informed earlier today that I’ll be getting a 5% raise this year (as opposed to the 3% I got last year), and have decided to put the entire 5% into my company’s 401 (k), which they match by 25%.

Anyone else have any attempts (or plans) to be good in at least one area of your life? (Save the “loose 10 lbs.” resolutions, as well as the “exercise more” one.)

Financially, wifey and I are doing pretty good; I also just got a 5% raise, and I like your idea of putting it in the 401K…

The biggest one for me though: quit smoking! After that I’ll excercise, quit drinking, etc.

I’m not one for new years resolutions, but I ended up making a couple in August. There were a lot of things I wished were different about my life, but not many that were 100% in my control. The condition of my skin and my weight were two I decided to tackle.

I’m back to using Proactiv and my skin is clearer than it’s been in years, since my teens maybe. That might seem like an odd statement, but I didn’t start getting blemishes until I was in college. I also looked 14 when I started college, so there’s that drawback.

As for weight… I’ve been excercising consistantly and have cut most carbs out of my diet. In four months I’ve lost 3.5" off my waist and am back to wearing size six jeans.

So my plans for 2007 are not to backslide

I’m planning to get all my financial paperwork closed out by the end of the year. Since the accountants have the week off (with a mix of holiday and enforced vacation days), I have an “extra” week. But I get lazy when the pressure is off, so I still have to pinch myself to keep at it.

I plan to get my financial house in order, and continue to save money.

My car will be replaced by a nicer, more reliable one. We just have to go out and get it. It won’t be new by a long shot, but that’s OK. No car payments is something I’ve done for years.

I just want to keep my weight steady, and not gain any.

These are all pretty typical, aren’t they?

I resolve to spend less time on the Dope. I’ve got lots of things to get done around here - nothing’s as easy as plunking my butt down at the computer and whiling away the hours.

That’s why porn is so great; you can sit your lazy butt in a chair in front of the computer, and get a bit of exercise at the same time! :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess these are my resolutions, but kind of just plans for the future.
I’d like to buy a car. I have a 2001 Hyundai that has been wrecked, and I don’t want a new car. I would like something between 1995-2000. I would also like a 4 door. I’ve been considering a Toyota or a VW, but also a light SUV would be nice if I could get it. I don’t want to have a car payment at the end of the year though (so a 5k car or so would be more than enough).

I also am taking control of my finances completely. I have put 200 in cash in a box until the first of the year so that I can open a savings/higher-interest account and plan on putting at least 15% of each paycheck in there. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but I would put more on various occasions.

That, and excercize, and I’ll be ok.
