My post was locked, so now I'll criticize a mod!

I’ve seen the following occur:

A. Poster either posts message in wrong message board or posts inappropriate message.

B. Mod locks thread and says “Look, you know this post is inappropriate…cut it out or you’ll be banned.”

C. Poster starts new post saying, “Why was my post locked? All I said was ‘x’”, restating original post

D. Poster is banned.

E. (Step E is optional, but seems to have become common of late) OP creates sock puppet who asks, “Why was OP banned?”

Here’s a trick, people. When the moderator tells you, “Don’t post x or you’ll be banned”, and you don’t want to be banned, then don’t post x, even if you think the moderator is wrong in telling you that. It just seems like common sense.

You are clearly a moderator’s sock puppet

To hijack slightly is there anyone with the username Sock Puppet. That would be a great username.

There was, he really was one, he got banned IIRC

For the record, the Sock Puppet is the name of Evil Warlord Serlin’s command ship, where he plots his campaign of ignorance with General Troll and his army of Brainfart-class Battledroids.

God damnit Captain, this is America! No, I don’t care if you, the reader, happen to not live in America, suck it up and deal with it.

As Americans, we have certain unalienable rights. The first of which is the right to Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. After that is guns and abortion. But what you fail to understand is that the fourth thing on the list. Damnit man, have you not read the Bill of Rights in the Declaration of Independence yet? Amendment 29 clearly states that Americans have a right to bitch about whatever the hell they want to and everyone else must just bend over and take it. Subpoint B is that whatever we bitch about is clearly correct.

So when the moderators yell at us, they’re wrong. When they lock up our posts, they’re wrong. When they ban us, they’re so far wrong, they’ve swung back around to right before hitting wrong again! It’s just plainly that simple!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have hot coffee I must spill on myself before suing the Chicago Reader.

Captain, you truly are amazing. The way most low-post count persons quickly become non-newbies is either 1) insane amounts of chat (see: Hamadryad, zyzzyva, and Aglarond), or 2) an extremely long period of registration with very, very choosy posting (do not see: handy, Coldfire, tracer, tomndebb).

You, sir, with this post, have apparently created a third option. Enlightenment.

–Tim

I am already reasonably acquainted with the legend of concrete. But I keep hearing about this Serlin person, and I am curious. What did he do to create such a fuss?

Snooooopy- Long story. I’ll do my best.

Mark Serlin is (by his own admission) an obsessive compulsive who sees this board as his latest addiction. (Lucky us.) He caused some minor waves and annoyances when he first showed up (he has some very strange opinions on women, especially “fat” women; I leave it to others to elucidate), but nothing really worth banning over.

Then he created five other personas so that he could argue various topics from various points of view (let’s see- Nitwatch2, the would-be-vigilante; RainbowCSR, the homosexual; AnitaG, the stripper; a few others). Multiple screen-names are a no-no. Mark Serlin was booted. Mark Serlin came back as Sentinel. Sentinel was exposed as Mark Serlin, and Serlin claimed that it was all a big psychology experiment, where he was testing the Doper’s reactions to the stimuli he provided. Needless to say, we scored poorly.

Since then, Mark has come back. Again. And again. And each time, we quickly discover what name he’s going by (and a big thanks to all the Dopers who have helped us mods with their e-mailed suspicions and picking up of clues) and ban him again. But he returns.

Eventually, he will go away. Either he’ll finally get on some medication and give up his obsession with this place, or maybe a large rock will fall on him. And I do not speak in any way as an affiliate of the Chicago Reader when I state that I hope it’s a really big rock. Like most trolls, Serlin broke the rules and refuses to believe that the consequences actually apply to him.

I’ll see what links I can scrounge up later.
(And Cap- thanks for the OP.)

Why was captain amazing’s post about criticizing a mod locked?

Why was captain amazing banned? Anyone?

Sheeesh. What I can’t understand is why sockfuckers burn their new screen-names so quickly. I mean, wouldn’t it make sense to use a little camouflage? Sure, they’re obsessed, they’ve gotta come back and fight. But couldn’t they be more subtle about it? A new screen-name complaining about locked threads and banning is just pathetic.

Come ON, sockfuckers (yes, I mean you, you, and most ESPECIALLY YOU). Try a little harder for crying out loud.

LOL, Enderw23!

Lemur, what the fuck are you talking about? Did you actually read the OP or just the thread title?

Here??

::pouf, pouf:: ::spray, spray::

::sniff, sniff::

OK, I’m ready. Bring him on!

Zette

LOL… that is classic…

if I were a quoting man…

You can’t find any posts by that name, but here is the other way to find people:

His threads were probably deleted, so he’s back to zero posts.

I don’t recall seeing that one.
I’m the only on that actually posted, and I was not banned.

I guess I should get in the habit of putting in smilies on everything. Sorry for the confusion. The two parts of my post are completely separate. See, the first part was supposed to be some kind of joke, or something. The second part was the actual question, NOT refering to the wonderful captain amazing, who is a perfectly respectable person, but to the actual sockpeople. Why do they do the “why was I…I mean he…banned? It’s unfair!” thing? What’s up with that?

I was banned at a board once for telling a friend of the bitchy mod that it was immature to call people names. I was not told WHY I was banned-just when I went back the next day to reply to some threads I was in-I couldn’t post.
I signed back on, thinking I had screwed up my password or something, and the mod tore me a new one, saying I was stupid and no one liked me. Oh well-burn you! She’d ban people for signing their posts!
Sheesh!

So I tend to kiss major moderator ass wherever I’m at!

But moderators are authority figures, and authority figures are bad. BAD.

But you are a quoting man…you just did!

If you’re thinking of using it as a sig, be my guest.

Thankfully, this particular moderator has a major ass, so you’re in luck.

(Just thought I’d say something before SPOOFE ran away with it…)
