My rant space for my daughter's hospitalization

CT found that the infectious fluid in her abdomen FINALLY formed three abscesses. She is scheduled to go into get them drained any time now.

After 15 days, going on 16, I have finally figured out that there is an internet browser accessible in the menu of this TV in her room. So now instead of watching the same 8 movies over and over again, we are watching Futurama (her favorite television show). Much more tolerable. We are definitely going to be here for at least the weekend.

It’s good to hear more good news. Thanks for updating us.

I’m sure it’s been a long, rough slog. I’m really glad your daughter seems to be so well on the mend !

When you head back north … consider a Groucho nose and glasses (or – ironically – a DJT mask) until you get back home.

The world will likely have changed while you were away. You never know how restless the natives might be

Alright, abscesses! Glad things are progressing well (and that you found some decent television).

Progress continues. If she goes about three more hours, she will have been fever-free for a full 24. The drain they put in is already running mostly clear.

At this point, hospital staff is lucky I’m not wandering the halls in my underwear at night, as comfortably settled-in as I’m starting to get.

As long as your rear end isn’t hanging out the gap in the back it’ll be fine.

May I offer condolences on the in-room furniture for parents to sleep on yet? I’m fairly certain the floor would be more comfortable, but they frown on that.

Glad to hear she’s doing better.

Great news! I’ve been following the saga, and it’s been quite a slog. Good luck with the job, too.

Thanks all!

She didn’t make the full 24 hours. With 45 minutes to go, she got sudden chills, followed by vomiting, followed by a sudden fever.

Poor kid.

Poor dad too.

As frustrating as it is, I’m glad she’s in a top notch specialty hospital where they are watching so closely and able to respond instantly. It’s great she is in such good hands medically.

Hang in there. Sending scads of powerful mom/nurse karma your way.

Aww, man! I was pulling for her AND for you.

How are things on the home front?

On the home front, I signed up for Walmart+, which allows for free-ish same-day delivery of items from the store, so I’m keeping the two kids there loaded with groceries/pet food/toiletries as needed.

Daughter’s boyfriend stepped up to help with getting my son to school, so he made it in all last week. So far, so good.

Adapt and overcome; living by that right now.

Damn. Poor kid, indeed.

Sigh.

I’m really sorry. Hoping for better news for y’all – and relief for her – and soon !

24 hours! She made it!

Hopefully a sign of things to come. Doctors still have us in a holding pattern, just boredom and observation. But maybe, just maybe, we will be able to go home this week.

:crossed_fingers:

Awesome News. Best wishes to you all

Excellent! I am sure you have had enough of hospitals to last you both several lifetimes.

Great news!

That’s great!

Yes! Glad to hear things are trending in the right direction!
