CT found that the infectious fluid in her abdomen FINALLY formed three abscesses. She is scheduled to go into get them drained any time now.
After 15 days, going on 16, I have finally figured out that there is an internet browser accessible in the menu of this TV in her room. So now instead of watching the same 8 movies over and over again, we are watching Futurama (her favorite television show). Much more tolerable. We are definitely going to be here for at least the weekend.
Progress continues. If she goes about three more hours, she will have been fever-free for a full 24. The drain they put in is already running mostly clear.
At this point, hospital staff is lucky I’m not wandering the halls in my underwear at night, as comfortably settled-in as I’m starting to get.
May I offer condolences on the in-room furniture for parents to sleep on yet? I’m fairly certain the floor would be more comfortable, but they frown on that.
As frustrating as it is, I’m glad she’s in a top notch specialty hospital where they are watching so closely and able to respond instantly. It’s great she is in such good hands medically.
Hang in there. Sending scads of powerful mom/nurse karma your way.
On the home front, I signed up for Walmart+, which allows for free-ish same-day delivery of items from the store, so I’m keeping the two kids there loaded with groceries/pet food/toiletries as needed.
Daughter’s boyfriend stepped up to help with getting my son to school, so he made it in all last week. So far, so good.
Hopefully a sign of things to come. Doctors still have us in a holding pattern, just boredom and observation. But maybe, just maybe, we will be able to go home this week.
