My refrigerator is empty: a hungry MMP

Yo flytrap! Da cave is smellin’ brisketerrific. I’m makin’ that brisket you mentioned Mrs. Plant 3.0 made last week. Brisket, onions, carrots, parsnips (I had to go to :eek:Wally*World:eek: to get parsnips) and N.O.T. cookin’ away at 350 degrees Amurrkin. I’m thinkin’ it should be done in about an hour. OYKW is dyin’, dyin’ I say, from the nummy smells.

Also, I have made a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea for tomorrow’s First Sunday Brunch. I will make a corn casserole also but since it’s real easy, I’ll make it in the mornin’.

That is the Sattidy funness here at da cave.

OMG, I made the birthday surprise cake that LiLi has a link to in her blog, and it is really so very good. I think I included a bit too much whipping cream in my recipe, though (I used heavy whipping cream also and it probably should have just been regular whipping cream). It came out very custardy, with a chocolate center. I’m refrigerating it because it just seems like it should be kept cool. LOL It is so very rich; I think my liver is just inches away from flipping over, so I better take it easy. But if anyone makes this, it really is delicious!!!

Been pretty quiet here today. No balloons were able to go up this morning, at the Balloon Fiesta due to the winds. If it’s 10 mph or over, they don’t ascend. Tomorrow might be even worse, but fortunately the winds are supposed to die down and make for better ascension weather on Monday and Tuesday.

Beautiful weather, and now the winds have stilled, but they are supposed to be up again this evening.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Cool!

Afternoon all!

We made a large dent in Christmas shopping today. We got paid yesterday and I leave for the UK on Wednesday for 10 days and that puts us almost at the end of October. I refuse to go near a mall after thanksgiving. So today was the start. I will also do more online as far as possible. I feel all organized and stuff.

I have a pork butt in the slow cooker has been on since 9am so I am hoping by 6 ish it is done for pulled pork. If not we are going out to see a comedian so it will be sammiches for supper and pulled pork tomorrow! It is cold here today. 48 degrees for the high. We have had the heating on all day. I am such a wuss now. Where I am from that is T-shirt weather!:stuck_out_tongue:

Hmmmm… way too late to say good morning, and almost too late to say good afternoon. How’s about I just say HOWDY!!!

It’s been an interesting day. After a late breakfast, we got a call from a former coworker of mine - he’s buying our two little boats and he wanted to come over to see them. So we pulled the laser out and pressure washed the worst of the crud off it, then gathered all the assorted parts. Jim and his wife and daughter showed up, then our daughter got here with the title to the trailer. Two hours later, it was agreed that they’d come get the boats next weekend.

We ran to Bert’s to get a burger, and after we came home, I had some quality studio time making penguin-shaped spoon rests. They’re drying a bit now - tomorrow, I’ll see if I can put underglaze on the bottom, then flip them out to dry. I’ve also got 6 pots that need the bottoms finished to prep them for glazing.

Daughter has gone home (she did some laundry here since our machine does sheets and bedspreads better than the tiny one at her apartment) and the temp is dropping. Very cool night forecast - like low 50s - yay!! I need some yarn - don’t know if I’ll run to JoAnn’s tonight or tomorrow.

All in all, a good day.

**Apes **- glad all worked out for you! **tarra **- the cake sounds yum! Guess I’ll have to look for the recipe…

Happy LiLi Day!!!

mmmmmms you said it wrong. You should have said, "I have a pork <snerk> butt <snerk> in the slow cooker.

I am in brisket heaven! We’re talkin’ brisket to die for. flytrap do tell Mrs. Plant 3.0 I highly approve and so does OYKW. We’s stuffded.

brr
It’s cold!

The forecast says we have an actual risk of ground frost tonight, and it feels like it! Have dug out winter jammies and slippers, and am considering taking hot water platypus (okay okay, it’s only a bottle cover) out of hibernation…

By the way, none of you lot left a key in my car did you? My housemate found a mystery one in the passenger footwell; I’ve been contacting everyone who’s been in there for the last few weeks, and everyone’s denying all knowledge. Very odd.

Happy LiLiDay!

Chilly here too. Rainy since last night, with predicted lows in the low 40s and the recorded high today was 53. So strange for this part of the country this time of year. Sunday it will start warming up again with highs in the low 60s, with the warming trend continuing into the week with highs starting in the low to mid 70s, with beautiful sunny weather until Friday.

So I’m lying in the bed last night & ‘breaking news’ comes on, complete with helicopter shot of flames many feet above the roof of a building I recognize. Damn, I really should go to sleep because the first digit on the alarm is ‘4’ But I wanna go, but I gotta be up soon, but you don’t see rippin’ fires like this often, but that alarm ain’t getting any later, but, but, but. I ended up being smart & going to bed. I looked at the dispatch list when I got up this morning, it’s now 4 alarms & they’re *still *bringing in replacement crews; from over ½ hr away. (this is an area where many of the towns have 2-3 depts.) They even had the mobile dispatch truck there last night; I’ve only ever seen this on display at things like fire prevention week; never on an actual call. I rode over there this afternoon; 20+ hrs later, they’ve got a crane pulling debris our of the space where there used to be a roof & hosing it off.
Can’t tell if there’s a roof over the unit I have memories in; my grand-ma-ma lived in this building when I was but a wee lad. Sounds like they’re going to demolish the whole building.

Today was the halloween themed festival that Dave and I had planned to go to. We even had our costumes figured out. We were going to dress like the singer (and his girlfriend) who played at the festival in the Spring. Obviously it’s hard to describe, but it would have been funny because this guy and his girlfriend were both thin as a rail and Dave and I, the opposite.

I had actually forgotten this, but the day before he passed, he had invited his nieces to the festival. I know I mentioned last week that they wouldn’t be able to make it. His brother did get called in to work, but his sister-in-law and the girls got to come. It was a fairly chilly day, but plenty of fun. Another friend of mine came out because she knew what it all meant to me. So, I’d say that it was a good day and that I’m sure that he was there with us, too.
And, I haven’t forgotten what you said, flytrap. Thank you. You probably wouldn’t be surprised to know that you guys get the worst of my grief. It’s much easier to dump it on invisible internet people then those I know in real life. Sorry, all, for that and thanks, too.

I hope you’ve all had a good week. It’s been crazy busy here. I actually had two shows this week and yesterday’s show was in Pennsylvania so I had to get up at 2:30 a.m. to drive there. It was a great show, though.

And since I’m late to the party I should add that my fridge is empty if there’s no string cheese or turkey burgers.

happy Li-Li day!!!

Irked, made Chinese BBQ chicken, had a hurricane. Life is good. And it’s warm here.:stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Birthday, Li-Li!!!

Sticks, dump on us all ya need. That’s what we’re here for.

Apparently I missed a staff meeting.
It will probably besmearch my Permanent Record.
What is Li-Li day? The day after Shabbot? Something after Yom Kippur?
Is it a Reform thing?

Yom Tov, all!

:dubious:

Thank you, Sticks.

Mrs. Plant v.3.0 wanted stir fried shrimp, and we used a recipe she Googled.
She was disappointed, for it was bland.
I rubbed her feet and calves; she is asleep, for she must awaken at an un G-dly hour to be at work at 5:00 Ante Meridian.

We have three calvus! The three species for my Tanganyika tank are complete.

One of the shellies is persecuting the calvus, a discussion about who gets to live in a rock pile. He is in for a great surprise when the calvus grow up to be three times his size.
Payback is a Bitch.

 ask yer Rabbi.
I had a nice nap, no weird dreams. Now I’m going to sleep.

Okay, FCM, I’m gonna try to post a link to the recipe for the surprise birthday cake (which is really more of a bread pudding than cake, but it is delicious), so here goes:

Surprise Birthday Cake recipe

It is most delicious, but seriously more of a bread pudding than cake. But delicious. I used Ghiradelli dark chocolate in the middle, btw.

I’m 25 today. Is there anything special about this milestone? I think I can go out and rent a car at the regular rate now. Woo-hoo.

Good Morning Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis a very nice 64 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 84. This is Fall weather in south Jawja.

flytrap LiLi aka Lissla Lissar is a Mumper who has not been around much lately due mostly to the fact that she has four (!) kidlets five and under, the last bein’ twin girls born I think in January 2012. The two older are boys so she and Mr. Lissar have a complete set now.

StickyBuns what doggio said.

Spidey yikes! I’m with ya though. There’s just sump’n about a big ol’ fire. When I was sixteen, a building at the local college in Ye Olde Hometowne caught on fire and it was a spectacular fire. A friend and I stayed up most of the night watchin’ it burn and the next day was a school day. It made for a rough day of school and irk afterwards but worth it.

I have all the ingredients for corn casserole lined up (well, minus the aig and sour cream cause they need to stay in the fridge until time) on the kitchen counter awaitin’ the time to be made into corn casserole. Excitin’, no?

And now this…

<AHEM> CLEARING THROAT <AHEM>

**
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAAARRR CCCHHHIIIZZZZZZUUUKKK!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then casserold bakeage and purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Happy Birthday chizzuk!!!
I think it’s Styrofoam for the 25th birthday. Or is that for the 25th wedding anniversary? I get confused.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. 53 now, and cloudy.
