Unqualified? I have a degree in Aero Engineering. Although I’ve never worked on UAVs, I have done structural design work on naval aircraft for close to 10 years. And while I don’t know how to use the specific CAD software, I was more than proficient with two other CAD packages, with at least 15 years using one of them. As for nepotism, while I did say my husband was going to hire me, in reality, he has actually passed my resume to his bosses and they will make the decision whether I will be working this project.
There’s no reason they can’t hire whoever they wish, but I have the credentials, I will be available, and I’m not seeking full-time employment or benefits. If they do make the offer, I will probably take it. If not, no biggie. I’ll have learned parametric modeling for the fun of it.
**FCD **just called - he’s on his way home, and he’s taken tomorrow and Monday off. We’re heading to Sears to look at some tool boxes, and I may let him take me out to dinner afterwards. Then we’ll have a long weekend of working in the basement. I see some sheetrocking in my future. Good times…
Maybe. But she’s committing at least 3 years of her life and potential for getting in trouble with the federal government if something doesn’t work out. How often do people get married and then realize in the first 3 years that it’s not working and divorce? If they do, they both get in serious trouble. It’s not worth the risk just to help someone. If it’s True Love that’s one thing, but I just see too many red flags in the relationship to want to bank on making it 3 years.
sigh My depression’s been bad lately. I just feel like sleeping. I actually went to bed right after dinner last night and dropped right to sleep. I don’t know if it’s PMS, depression, or what. And I get a third weekend of listening to my dad lay tile. At least he’s done ripping up the old stuff (I think.)
If she’s just doing it to help him get a green card, she’sbreaking the law. Stupid risk, if you ask me. And what’s wrong with the guy that he can’t get a green card legally?
I’m not anti-immigrant, I just have no patience with people who think the rules don’t apply to them.
GT, we honked and waved when we passed through Columbus today. Did you see us?
Stopped for the night outside of Pittsburgh, at VWife’s [del]request[/del]demand. We should be home in Merrylande with the VunderKind before noon tomorrow.
BLTs for chop-chop tonight. I will be adding avocado slices to mine. I’ve also been directed to make some fries to go with the BLTs. I’d be perfectly content with just the BLTs, but I guess the boys gotta eat.
Nothing too exciting going on here. It’s hot; a little uncomfortably hot, but I’m not going to complain too much because it’s not as hot as some of you folks have it.
I am retired . I play about 15 hrs of racketball a week and walk 2 beagles at least 2 miles everyday. There is a point where you cease to notice Saturdays and Sundays. But when you hear about Monday morning traffic jams and fender benders, you feel better.
The lawn gets bigger every year.
It’s about all I can muster right now. After the MRI scan a couple weeks ago and a nerve conduction test earlier this week, the results are in, and there’s no big bright red flashing arrow. The good news is that the radiologist’s report said something like “normal post-operative condition” and that the various spaces the nerves go through are “adequate.”
It’s starting to look like I’m playing a game of “What’s the big ugly obvious problem?” and cycling through fixing that, then what’s the next problem? We’re probably going to do a nerve block in the near future, and if that doesn’t make small colorful birds sing for me, we just climb upward one level to L4-L5 where there is a different sort of problem, yet still one that can be corrected surgically.
While we cycle through options on the low back, we’re also about to explore the neck and maybe find an answer to the endless headaches.
I am at irk and it is irksome. Yesterday I was asked to check a large spreadsheet of exam results that the med school office had put together, one of the columns on it relates to a module that I work on so I am the person who provides them with the results in the first place.
That makes me the perfect person to check them, right? I had given them a column of project marks, a colum of exam marks and a column of “strand” marks which combines the project and exam and provides an average. It is no surprise to me that the numpties in this office had used the wrong column for part of it, so at least a third of the sheet was correct but there were random entries where they’d used the strand marks instead of the project mark. How incompetent can these people get?
No wonder they are restructuring the office and trying to get rid of the clueless clods who make idiot mistakes like that.
At least it’s Friday today, and 'im indoors is off to visit his family this weekend so I will have a weekend of peace and quiet.
Get well soon, sickies…and rosie’s sig to the rest of you!
