Several weeks ago I was over at my sister’s house and I told her about this crazy internet site that has been obsessing me for a few months, our own SDMB. I showed her some neat threads, and she seemed interested.
Sure enough, she soon pops up under the screen name Green Bean. Posts some interesting things, gets going, makes friends . . . the usual.
At the end of last week I’m looking at a thread she’s posted on, and I realize that she has more posts than I do. She’s beating me. Well, I say to myself, she’ll be away for the weekend and off the boards, so now’s my chance to catch up. And, I do. I pull ahead of her by a bit.
This afternoon, I log on again, and, you guessed it she’s beating me again. Right now she’s sitting on 300 posts and this is my 299th. I could post on a few more threads, but soon enough she’d log on shoot off a few posts and she’d be beating me once more.
Now I don’t really mind that my little sister has more posts than I do. Or that she gotten them in one month, less than half the time that I’ve be posting here (not to mention my lurking time). That would all be fine if she were simply spewing out fountains of dross. No, the thing about all of this that really annoys me is that the run of her posts are a whole lot more informative, funnier, better written, more creative, more interesting, more sympethetic, better researched, warmer, clearer, and otherwise superior to my own.
Dammit, Green Bean, I showed you this site, I refrained from beating you up too much when you were a twerpy kid, and I must have done a few other nice things, and this is how you repay me.

You don’t have a thing to worry about. I’ll have the jury eating out of my hand. Meanwhile, try to escape.
