My son is a babe-magnet!

I cannot explain this phenomenon, but I want some!

The boy is nearly nine years old. He’s more or less an average-looking kid, as far as I can tell. Pleasant-looking, not unusually good-looking, not a juvenile Brad Pitt or Cary Grant, but by no means ugly. No one could possibly call him an unattractive child.

And he basically minds his own business. His personality is pleasant, but he’s not overly outgoing. He has ADHD, and a slight speech impediment, so he may not have all the social graces he might otherwise have.

But little girls love him. They are fascinated by him. They stare at him in restaurants and cozy up to him and talk to him in other situations. He doesn’t even ask for this, it just happens. It’s always been like this.

Last night, my wife took him to the library for a summer reading program. He was sitting on the floor, waiting for the show to start, minding his own business, and this girl, around five or six or so was staring at him, and getting close to him and talking to him.

I don’t get it. Chicks just dig him.

What gives?

And where can I get some?

A Marxist AND a babe magnet?

You sure he’s not MY son?

I know that phenomenon!

A friend of mine (who’s a single dad) has an eleven year old son.
The son is cute and cheeky and charming and eveything - I like him. But he’s nothing special - just a cute kid.
His father OTOH is (at least in my opinioin) a very attractive man. He’s a photographer and often has women visiting him to take photos. As he tells me, ALL his models are unbelievably fond of his son. They play with the boy or cuddle with him or read him stories… .
The father is always jealous because all the women cuddle his son and not him !

I think I’m about the only woman who doesn’t cuddle with the son. Instead we have a different kind of relationship: we talk about Star Wars! (It started when he showed me his new lego starship model and I said without hesitating “Cool - a Tie Interceptor”. He was so fascinated I knew the type of the starship! )

My daughter (3 years old) is a babe magnet as well - except these babes are all 20+ years old. I LOVE taking her to the mall. I’ve met more women than I can count when I’m with her.

Uhhhh…he better NOT be.

Quick, someone show this to Mrs. Dave!

This is different from grown wimminz cooing over a baby or a toddler. That’s not what I meant.

I mean, the boy is attractive in this inexplicable way to little girls. Little girls just think he’s fascinating.

Of course, he’s too young to appreciate it, but if I could bottle this thing and get it to work so that women slightly younger than, say, ME were highly attracted to, say, ME…

yikes.

Dave, it’s easy. If you want women to be attracted to you, you need a puppy. That’s all.

Hey, how YOU doin’?

There’s the key, right there. He’s mastered the art of unaffected nonchalance. Of course, that’s because he genuinely doesn’t care if he gets attention from girls, and it’ll probably wear off just when he needs it the most, but there you have it. Girls (and guys, for that matter) flock to the very people who aren’t particularly looking for attention.

InternetLegend, that’s sort of what I’m talking about. We’ve noticed this at the library, at McDonald’s, all over the place. We’ll be just minding our own business, being a family, and a couple tables over will be a family, minding their own business, but they have a little girl, and she will be staring at the boy, mesmerized. And he, totally unaffected and oblivious, just sits there munching his French Fries.

jackelope, anyone can do it with the right props. I’m talking about some basic, inborn mojo that he’s got working for him that, sadly, I simply do not understand.

Persephone, I’m doing better now that I’m talkin’ to you, babe! I’ll settle your hash later…

Women go for the quiet types.

That way, we reel em in, boss em around

and they become ours

Dave, I’m only going to say this once …

You keep your kid away from my wife and daughter this weekend!!!

puts on his costume
HAR HAR HAR! I’ll steal the good super heros special good looks and maybe I’ll get some chicks
[/evil jealous antagonist]

I wish I was young and beautiful:rolleyes:

<quiet mumbling...>

My son’s the same way. He’s nearly two, not talking much, and little girls just LOVE him!

And <wink wink> the big girls love him too!

I’ve told GrizzWife that if I were to take the GrizzCub to the park with our two big fluffy Old English Sheepdogs, I’d have females (of ALL ages) lined up 'round the block!

<sheepish look> Not that I would even CONSIDER such a thing! Right honey?<sheepish look>
