I’m so sorry to hear Dylan is sick, Kricket. Best wishes to you and your brave little guy.
Check your e-mail if you have a moment, okay?

Veb, checked e-mail, and nothing there. But that doesn’t suprise me since I have been having issues with hotmail lately.
Went in for his recount yesterday and he is up again!
105,000!
Have to go back in on Tuesday and check it again.
I hope after the second round of the meds that he keeps his count up and it doesn’t go back down for a few reasons.
First all so his poor little body can take a break. He’s getting chunky as heck.
Secondly so I don’t choke him! The meds have made him terribly aggressive. Understandable but trust me folks he is trying me like you wouldn’t believe.
I don’t get it.
He was my biggest child when he was born. 10lbs. 8oz. He was healthy besides a little low blood sugar from being so big.
Just having two healthy children tries my patients, having a sick kid can’t be any fun. Lot of love and good thoughts coming your way.
Dang. I’ve sorta been expecting the phone to ring. I’ll re-send the e-mail.
The upshot was I only live a hop, skip, jump and a bridge away from you. I’m sure you’re stressed to the max and running on pure grit and adreneline about now. If I can help in any way, I hope you’ll let me know.
If nothing else I could toss together some easily storable and reheatable meals and deliver them. You’re run ragged and still have a family that needs to eat. It’s a little thing but might be one less thing to cope with I could lift from your shoulders.
Or run errands or handle some of the exhausting, niggly stuff that never goes away, even in emergencies. (Laundry comes to mind.)
Heck, e-mail me. I’ll make a point to keep checking, even if the e-mail w/ my phone number wanders astray again. Or maybe beagledave could act as relay.
Best wishes to you, Dylan and the Kricket family.
Veb
Oh, dear. I’m so sorry that I didn’t see this till now. Thank you for the updates, Kricket. My best thoughts, wishes, and prayers are winging your way now. Do continue to keep us informed, please. And take beagledave and Veb up on their kind offers; it sounds like you can really use the help. I wish I had the means or lived a lot closer, I’d love to help out as well.

And some extra ones for your other son. I know how much you must miss him.

Kricket, I’m so sorry your son is ill. It’s terrible waiting for lab results. I’ve been there and it sucks. My littlest had anatomical defect that caused her to be hospitalized twice when she was younger. She finally had to have surgery after two lengthy hospital stays. So I know all about holding down your child while they poke needles in her.
I pray that removing his spleen will be the answers to your prayers. Our daughter was “cured” with surgery, thank God.
Hang in there.
I never know what to say in these threads - everyone else words everything so much better than I do. I just hope everything works out ok - hugs to Dyaln, and to you and your husband too - you need them just as much, I’m sure.
When we popped over to see Kricket today…it seems like Dylan’s platelet count had risen out of the really low level it was earlier. I hope she pops in to give more details about the situation. Dylan was romping around in the yard like a typical 5 year old today…cute kid.

All the best
Yes, the Beagles stopped over yesterday and it was a wonderful suprise.
And speaking of cute children his daughter is adorable! Can’t wait until she is really up and running and maybe we could all go to the park or swimming together.
Dave I love being on the e-mail list for pictures so keep them comming.
Veb, I am going to have to e-mail you. I think your e-mail is getting caught in the junk mail trap since you aren’t in my list.
Dave is right about Dylan. He is running around like a typical five year old.
And to explain why he had a shovel shoved down the back of his shirt is a whole nother story.
Let’s just say he has a great imagination and we just watched Army of Darkness the other night and the shovel would be his boom stick.
We go this afternoon for another finger stick to make sure his platelets are still going up. His bruises are fading so I’m pretty confident that they are.
That’s just one more thing about this disease. With the way he briuses the doctor told me at one time that I would get alot of funny looks and that I need to let the school know when he started about his disease so that way they wouldn’t call DHS and report him as an abuse victim.
I will be online later tonight to post and let you know what is going on.
I’m also in Yahoo, AIM, and MSN under MistressKricket and ICQ under Kricket. I’m not the type to randomly message people because I don’t want to be a bother.
{{{Kricket and Dylan}}} you know Me and mine are keeping good wil flowing your way.
We are up to 300,000!
I hope things just keep getting better for Dylan.
A hug for him and for you. hug
I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers.
I have been lurking and reading this thread - I wish you and your son all of the strength you can get. Really glad to hear his count is up.
Scott
I just saw this and feel like a heel that I missed it.
Glad to hear that your son’s count is up. I hope it stays that way.
Thoughts and prayers on the way to ya as we speak,
Zap!
I had to take him to the ER last night cause he is showing signs again.
They are low again. 57,000.
Iowa City doesn’t want to see him unless they drop lower in case they decide to go back up on their own.
I have to take him in again tomorrow for another CBC.
{{{Kricket}}}
Add me to the list of well wishers and prayers! You and your family are definitely in my thoughts; I’m sorry you’re going through a tough time. I hope tomorrow’s count comes out well.
So sorry you and the little guy have to go through this.
I’m just chiming in to tell you not to be dismayed if they recommend splenectomy. Little ones recover quickly and it may very well reduce or eliminate the need for steroids and frequent tests. The main concern after a splenectomy is a somewhat reduced resistance to infection. They will be especially careful to make sure he gets regular immunizations (annual flu shots plus the usual stuff all kids get). The surgery is likely to make all your lives easier.

Man, roller coaster, isn’t it? I hope things even out and that little Kricket is tearing up the town soon.
Tibs.
His platelets are down to 35,000.
