My son is ill again

All right, I didn’t want to have to do this - but it’s time for me to whip out my patented high-platelet-count karma. Don’t try this at home, leave it to the professionals.

We’re all thinking about you and sending you our best.

Tibs.

Dammit Kricket…don’t make me come over there and knock some sense into KricketBoy’s circulatory system!

Seriously…some beagle thoughts and prayers are being aimed your way…You have my email if you need me… (Although I’ll have my own surgery on Wednesday… :frowning: )

Dave, I hope all goes well with you.
I have another appointment with Dylan on thursday unless he starts a nose bleed or gets those deep purple blue bruises and then I am supposed to bring him in right away.
Iowa City doesn’t want to see him until his count is 20,000 or lower.
It’s irritating. And it seems like they are dragging their heels, but they want to see if he will go up on his own and there is a low chance of brain hemorage until he is 20,000 or below.

All the best to you and your son, Kricket.

I empathize. My daughter has CF, and the last 10 months have been no picnic.

As we both well know, a parent’s job is to do that which must be done, and bear that which must be borne.

But it really sucks.

Dear Kricket,

I sure do want to wish your son the best as well as a soaring platelet count.

C’mon, little dude!

Heartfelt hopes for a miraculous rebound heading your way,

Rysdad

Thanks guys.
I post to keep everyone updated and for the moral support and through the past few months my doper friends haven’t failed to amaze me.
Next appointment is Thursday if we make it that far.

Qadgop the Mercotan, I tried to start a thread a few weeks ago to get other doper parents with children like ours together so we could share laughter and tears but it didn’t take off.
Feel free to message me anytime if you want to chat.

That goes for anyone and everyone really!

We went yesterday and his platelets are on the move back up.
57,000 without any medication!
Hopefully we keep this upward trend.

Glad to hear good news, we’re still pulling for you.

154,000!
All on his own with no meds for the past two weeks or so!
Hopefully this is the end of it for a while.

That’s great! I hope it stays high.

Is there some sort of trigger that makes the count drop (stress, or diet or something) or is it random?

You and Dylan are in my prayers always, hon.

I am so glad things seem to be better…and I really appreciate you keeping us informed as to how he is doing.

Much Love,

Cheri

Mazel tov! My kid is doing better too, at present. Now, if I can avoid strangling her a la Homer Simpson for her adolescent 13 year old girl behavior, everything will be cool.
