My Space Food Sticks review

Thanks to this site, I recently discovered

Remembering these fondly from childhood, I ordered some.

The first thing is the packaging. It may say “Space Food Sticks” on it but there’s nothing spacy about it. The orange box features a bicycle motocross guy. WTF?! Furthermore, these are not the straw-sized sticks wrapped in a semi-foil tube that we recall. Instead you get what at first glace looks like a “fun-sized” Kit-Kat. You get your basic candy wrapper about as long as a index finger and as wide as a thumb. When you open it, you see two straw-width (but short) chocolate sticks stuck together. You break them apart and eat them. If they were one on top of the other rather than side-by-side, you’d have more of the original item.

The texture is the same as I remember: a little dry and tough to chew. Your mouth gets a real workout. The taste is chocolate-carob. Think stale Tootsie-roll. But that’s not bad. That’s the way it tasted back in the 1960s.

I got two boxes (6 twin stick packs in each) for $17 including postage. Not bad considering the things are manufactured and shipped from Australia.

A fun adventure in nostalgia.

The caramel flavour Space Food Sticks are sooooooooooooooooo much better than the chocolate flavoured ones.

General Questions is for questions with factual answers. MPSIMS is for Mundane Pointless Stuff I Must Share. Since I don’t see a General Questiion . . .

Off to MPSIMS.

Thanks for the follow up KXL. I haven’t been brave enough to hit the “check out” button.

FWIW, chocolate Power Bars remind me a lot of space food sticks.
