My Spool-Chocker Stopped Working

I am using Windows 11. This morning I discovered my spell-checker does not work when I am typing comments in Brave (my browser) or Edge (which I never really use). Oddly, WOrd still works just fine. How did I manage to screw this up? How might I fix it?

In order to turn Windows 11’s built-in spellchecker back on (or to verify that it is, in fact, turned off):

  1. Press Win+I This will open the Settings app of Windows 11
  2. Access Time & language category using the left section
  3. Go to the Typing page visible on the right part
  4. Turn off the Highlight misspelled words button.

Try that out - see if it is actually turned off, and it should be able to be turned on again.

As to how you might have turned it off, I don’t know - there doesn’t seem to be a single keystroke combination to toggle it.

Thank you. That seems to have fixed it.

Goshm darnm it, it is nom longerm highlighting isspelledm wordsm, nom matterm howm obviousm theym are. I will deal witht his in the afternoon. It is a school night.

I swear it was working an hour ago.

OK, spell-checking works in Mail, Word, and just about everything else. It does not work in the browsed Brave (my main browser) or Edge (as far as I can tell).

It was a problem with Brave. I went into settings and flipped a switch. Now it works.

Thank you all.
