Brand names and sources, please?
I’m a great believer in symmetry. Without it, we’d all tip over.

I just ordered two pairs on your say-so alone. See how impressionable I am. BTW, they’re having a sale now-- discount with the code GOBBLE until Nov 30. So gitchyseff some more.
I never go to foreign cities. I hope I can still wear them.
It can be a problem for me too. I roll the top down once and survive them better.
My biggest problem in winter is that I’m allergic to wool. Everybody keeps trying to push Smartwool on me but nuh uh, I tried one pair and had to hand them off to someone else. So, I double up cotton socks sometimes or wear silk liner socks to help keep my tootsies toasty.
How does the leather stand up to being washed in the machine? Because I’m thinking about it as a Christmas gift for my brother and sister-in-law. Their house in Connecticut is often chilly, so it might be good for around the house.
I guess there really is a nationwide obsession with socks, and not just a clever TV campaign by Big Sock.
Well, quite a few people have cold feet…
My personal sock obsession is with how to keep my feet warm and frostbite at bay while outside in very cold weather. There was a time when I worked outside and/or in unheated conditions all year round so proper cold weather gear was essential. I wanted 100% real wool socks, but not the big chunky clunky almost-slipper kind because I had to fit my feet into my work shoes/boots. I wasn’t able to find what I wanted so, as I noted, I knitted my own. Granted, the fact I learned to knit at something like age 6 sort of helped with that, I just had to find a good pattern, not learn a whole new skill.
At home inside I’m barefoot - because my feet are not, by nature, cold and if I’m not doing something requiring full foot protection I’ll happily wear sandals down to 40 F/5 C. It’s more comfortable for me to be barefoot and let them breathe. Where I work we sell all kinds of cute slippers, and I like the look of those camp slippers, I really do, but wearing them would leave my feet all sweaty and overheated (unless, perhaps, I was camping in cool/cold weather in which case they’d be dreamy).
That said - having had cold feet on occasion, and even some mild frostbite once upon a time, I do understand the misery of cold feet and have nothing but sympathy for those for whom it is a frequent occurrence.
Acorn’s reseller in the UK doesn’t seem to carry the boot socks, it’s all booties. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
These are made of Rayon where the source material is bamboo rather than petroleum. So essentially a synthetic fiber made from a renewable resource.
Rayon socks from another source would be pretty much the same.
My Fox River socks came today. They are wonderful. By some magic, they are thick without being so bulky that I struggle getting my shoes on.
The brand of bamboo socks I’ve been buying is Yomandamor, and I get them on Amazon. Nothing fancy. I get the knee socks because they stay up without strangling my chunky calves. My feet usually run hot, but I can wear these socks in summer and they feel fine. Somehow they’re also warm in winter.
